Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: GUEST,Pamela in Ithaca Date: 14 Jun 07 - 12:51 PM Linn and Tom, I am *so* glad to hear that things are going well. Take your medicine as you should (all of it!) and take good care of each other. It's a relief to come back after several days away (in lovely Lexington, Virginia) and hear that all are on the mend... and the cat may even come back. cheers, Pamela |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Bat Goddess Date: 14 Jun 07 - 12:42 PM Did get some bad news this morning -- or rather, disappointing. The Jazz-min sighting turned out to be a false alarm. The look-alike turned out to be part of a batch of nearly grown kittens -- too young and unspayed to be our girl. That call came first thing this morning, so, besides being exhausted, I'm not in the best of moods today. Trying to get somewhat caught up and back on schedule at work, right now. Arghhh! Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: catspaw49 Date: 14 Jun 07 - 09:41 AM Sorry I have not been around but I too was "paying penance" for an early dismissal plus dealing with some other family matters. This kept me away except to read a few and I followed your homecoming and finally now get around to saying.........GLAD YOU'RE HOME!!! Now take care and try to follow the plan. I know that personally I will say damn near anything to get out of the hospital. I'm told I once even agreed to go underwater and fornicate with a flounder if I could get released. Happily, that one turned out to be a bad trip from the meds I was on, but I think I have been that desperate. So remember, you have to do what you promised the Docs.........uh, nothing about fish was there? Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Micca Date: 14 Jun 07 - 08:11 AM hey Linn, with a bunch of pipes you could strategically place them so it looks like you have a pipe organ in the house!! and have visitors trying to work out where the keyboard and power plant are!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Bat Goddess Date: 14 Jun 07 - 07:43 AM Organ pipes, Mary! I already have one wooden (A, I think) pipe given to me by a friend who worked for a company that repaired and restored organs. (Now he builds citterns, bouzoukis, and octave mandolins.) Actually, I'd love a few more to add to the collection. David Behm used to be able to get overtones when he blew into the pipe -- he had a pretty good set of "pipes" himself! Linn |

Might see you Friday or Saturday, be forwarned. Love Ya Barry |

Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: curmudgeon Date: 13 Jun 07 - 04:45 PM I am now at home. Thanks to all for positive thoughts and good wishes; I'm sure they helpedto speed things up. Food was typical hospital fill, short os seasoning, bountiful in its blandness. The meatloaf was almost tasty as it had real onions in it. And there were machines capable of producing real coffee with body and flavour. I really can't think of anything to add, but I will entertain questions as long as they come with their own personal sense of humor. Now for a wee taste of that amber elixer which was not available at all. Thanks again -- Tom |

Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Charley Noble Date: 13 Jun 07 - 09:33 AM Linn- Best of luck in springing Tom today. While we're waiting for more updates here's the latest story about our periodically "missing cat." Tejitu, our calico cooncat, has been gone as long as a week in the past. When I returned from the Mystic Sea Music Festival on Monday she was gone again, evidently that morning. There was no sign of her by evening or by the next morning so we sent the usual alerts to the animal shelters, the town animal control officer, and our nearest neighbors. No little flattened cats on the road were reported by Public Works. Her half-sister Tilahun remained unconcerned, with a peculiar smirk on her face. Well, late yesterday afternoon I was making another circuit around a neighbor's house; they were off to a cottage for a few days. I checked their bulkhead, which they'd left unlocked, to see if Tej was down below and she was not. Then I heard a familiar meow from somewhere, and finally determined that it was from within the house. And when I meeowed back, Tej jumped up on the screened open bedroom window sill and appeared quite happy to see me. The screen wasn't locked and I managed, with my handy tack remover, to ease it up enough so that Tej could jump down. The neighbors appeared quite surprised when they returned later that evening after I told them what our "stupid cat" had done. They hadn't a clue how she slipped into their house but I bet it wasn't the first time. Now she's curled up in my lap while I'm trying to type this little story up. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: SINSULL Date: 13 Jun 07 - 08:56 AM Knock it off, Deborah. Alice is first on the To Be Adopted list. Linn - think what good company Alice would be for Tom. And she would never run away. (Believe me, I have tried). |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Bat Goddess Date: 13 Jun 07 - 08:37 AM Okay, morning update. Just talked to him -- they haven't brought his breakfast yet, but they're letting him have pancakes, so he's happy and curmudging less. Anywho, he still doesn't know what time they're springing him today, but all he's waiting for is the training on how to do the twice daily 30-minute antiobiotic drip that he'll have to do for the next month. So probably some time this afternoon. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Jeri Date: 13 Jun 07 - 06:35 AM I went for a short visit yesterday evening. He seemed to be doing pretty well for being incarcerated. I saw the remains of his food tray and thought, "OMYGOD - ARE THOSE CANNED SQUISHY-FRUIT PEARS/PEACHES!!!" I actually thought it out loud. Tom said they were apples. Otherwise, he might have had an extended stay from the shock of it all. |
Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Naemanson Date: 13 Jun 07 - 04:38 AM I just found this thread. Sorry to be late to the party. And for Tom, remember it's breathe in, breathe out. One always follows the other. |

Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Bat Goddess Date: 12 Jun 07 - 09:02 PM Talked to Tom a little while ago. He's doing well, and it looks like I'll be bringing him home tomorrow afternoon. As they had said originally. I also talked to the woman who has spotted the cat that meets Jazz's description and she hasn't been able to reach the woman who has been feeding the strays. She said she'll call me either later tonight or first thing in the morning and I can go over and see if it is, indeed, Jazz. Could very well be -- her road is about 3 miles or so from here, but it's a pretty straight shot through the woods. And Jazz has been missing since Memorial Day weekend. Good night! Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Curmudgeon In Hospital - June 9, 2007 From: Bat Goddess Date: 12 Jun 07 - 05:34 PM Just got home -- without Tom. False alarm. They did wheel him off while I was there to put another portal for the antibiotic drip he'll have to do twice a day FOR A MONTH!!! (But didn't yet take out the one on his neck that has been serving in that capacity.) And then they have to train him how to do it. And he's off oxygen -- said he had to get used to breathing what the rest of us are stuck with. Sigh. But now he's got clothes, so if he needs to make a break in the middle of the night... Linn |
