Lynne and Pat will be launching their new CD September Days, issued by Wildgoose Records, at Waltham Abbey Folk Club on Monday 18th of June.

The evening will take the form of the usual singaround, with a special set by Lynne and Pat on the night, plus an opportunity to purchase their new CD.

Lynne and Pats website is here

Waltham Abbey Folk Club
Brooker Road
Waltham Abbey
Essex
EN9 1HY

Cheap Bar. Admission £1.50. 8pm onwards

Map here

I shall bring £12 on the night to buy one.

      The greatest harmonies will start
When Lynne and Pat, their songs impart
They sing of humour, love and sin
They battle perfect pitch and win
Their singing makes me laugh and cry
And I will love them till I die
      As all their choruses immerse
      In harmony with the universe

Simon

By way of refreshment, this is to the tune of Lord Franklin

It's a Monday night, the eighteenth of june
Where Lynne and Pat, you'll hear sing in tune
Some songs that come from their new CD
September days, twelve pounds it will be

As a singaround, it will take the form
Yes you've a chance to go down a storm
With voice or tune, or a tale to tell
This is a folk club, that is running well

The bar is cheap, you can not believe
A pint will not make your wallet grieve
So come along and where you are sat
Enjoy the evening with Lynne and Pat

...
For Lynne & Pat are once more about
I always like it when they pop one out
So buy their CD, you'll be glad you did
Two radiant songbirds, and for just 12 quid.....

As I was walking on my own
I had a call on my cell phone
Someone had called me up to say-o
That we should be there next Monday-o
That we should be there Monday

At the Waltham Abbey Folk Club
Perhaps with booze and some free grub
Lynne and Pat will make the evening sweet-o
So that's where all will go to meet-o
So that's where all will go to meet

And there we'll buy their new CD
Which has some tracks that are new to me
But as folksong is one of my hobbies-o
I know the one about twa corbies-o
I know the one about two crows.

We'll be there on Monday!!

Alan

We have MCP guesting at Herga, so I won't make it to Waltham Abbey, but you'll have a great evening anyway in Lynne and Pat's capable hands. (Which reminds me, that it's horse and foot advancing day on Monday too!)

On the Eighteenth day of June me boys, in two thousand and seven
By horse and foot they will advance for a taste of lyric heaven
By horse and foot they will advance and their bugles loud will blow
To the Ex of Ess, they will progress for Turner and Heraud.

Euterpe's the muse of lyric song, for erotic there's Erato
I've heard them before so I can guess which muse they'll choose for a start-O.
I wish that I could be there too, but the tragic muse Melpomene
Cruelly decreed that on that day Herga decided they wanted me.

So though I'll be scant miles away Lyn and Pat I cannot audit
But in that throng of Waltham's song they'll scarcely miss my plaudit.
Like heroes of old, I'll sing and fall on some distant folk club floor,
While in Essex roses bask in applauses and repeated calls of "More!"

Mick

So hopefully no-one will be able to claim they are not amused, whether they favour the east or middle sex.

As I was walking the banks of the Chesterfield Canal this morning (a good folkie start), I realised (in the odd way that things come to you) that I'd spelled Lynne's name wrong, so apologies for that.

And in the same way that witty rejoinders so often come to you 24 hours after you need them, it also came to me that the last line of v2 should have better been:
"Cruelly decreed that Herga's need for singer should fall upon a-me"!

("Are you sure, now, Mick?". "Yes I am, thanks Mick; it may be doggerel but, by God, it's well-crafted doggerel!").

Hi Lynne
Barb and I are hoping to get there...
Maybe, we should bring our own picnic. (Crisps and nuts. NO! Mmmm...prefer Hummous, Sun-Blanched tomatoes, Fine Meats, and some of your smelliest cheese!! Obviously Ciabatta, and a fine garlic and chive dip, not to mention Stuffed Vine Leaves, Olives, Baby Aubergines, Peppers)
Should we bring Tina/Fiddle?? (Not for eating, obviously)

Should be great

Love R xxx
