Well, if they didn't kow-tow to him I suppose they wouldn't have an icecle's chance in hell of getting into government. We ought to give them a chance first to see what they come up with. To be honest, I'd rather have them, even if they do prove a bit gutless, in government than the PDs or than a FF-only government.

I don't want to see my vote wasted :)

The Greens are proving a gutless lot, creeping and kow-towing to the FFs before they took their seats,Bertie has them by the `henry-halls`.

Well, this morning the new Green ministers cycled to work in the lashings of rain - followed by a warm cosy garda each, driving.

That was a typical sneaky move on that clown Dick Roche's part by signing off on the Tara road on his last day of office, and I've no doubt that Berti ordered him to do it before he left office. It'll no doubt make things a bit more difficult for Gormley (assuming he was going to do anything about it) but we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'd hate to see the Greens spending the next few years kow-towing to Berti.

Well, they've disproved one thing: "There'll always be Tara".

The trouble is that the Greens in Ireland are hopelessly divided. After all, there are forty shades of them.

I voted for them (well, gave them my second pref) on account of their policies re the road being driven through the valley of Tara, and the American troops using Shannon, among others, so am disappointed that these seem to be dropped for the moment. On the other hand, they may be able to restrain FF and that alone would be better than nothing.

They do seem to have received the backing of most of the Green party for this move (which surprised me).

You've got to be the circle to influence it..... But going in with PD's and FF must rankle them.
Still, let them see what influence they can bring - either they go up in the next election or go by way of the PD's in this one... One thing for sure, it's going to be interesting to watch!

I love the way Sargent (seargent?) resigned as party leader but is still taking a ministry and being involved in 'organising the party'. He really kept that promise well. I'm guessing they'll be kept away frm FFs drive to privatise everything in sight and allowed to make an occasional token gesture towards the environment.

I wonder how the Greens will do in their first stint in government in Ireland.

They've already caved on the road being driven through the valley of Tara, and the American troops using Shannon.

They seem to have got only promises to make promises in their negotiations with Fianna Fail's wily, experienced politicians.

But at least they've got a chance to push green attitudes...
