What abouut Portaferry the second weekend of February , Friday 8th to Sunday 10th in 2008 ? Any Takers ? |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Loughstock 2008 From: John MacKenzie Date: 14 Jun 07 - 12:10 PM Thought we were going back to the original Portaferry constitution as written by Primula Crispbread, that it shall be on the first weekend in February every year IMMOVABLY! A certain PeterK was most upset that we had the temerity to hold it on a different weekend this year! G. |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Loughstock 2008 From: Maryrrf Date: 14 Jun 07 - 02:05 PM Either weekend will work for me - can all those who think they may be coming let us know their preference, and based on that we can make plans! I'm already looking forward to it! |
Subject: RE: Folklore: Loughstock 2008 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Jun 07 - 05:11 PM It all depends on which weekend is best for the maximum amount of people... the previous weekend is Candlemass/Imbolc - I know several people who will be unable to attend. LTS |
Subject: RE: Folklore: Loughstock 2008 From: Leadfingers Date: 14 Jun 07 - 06:49 PM If 'The Tradition' is for the first weekend thats fine by me ! So Do we go for the first weekend , which is Friday 1st Feb to Sunday 3rd Feb . |

I'm going to try to get but it's tricky because I'm all of a sudden living alone in London (very expensive) and saving up for another Mongolian rally in 2008 (also very expensive) and an around the world rally in 2009 (even more expensive) and I'm not sure where I'll be living after Christmas blah de blah, but if I can get over then I will. If I can't, well, you all know where the pubs are by now! |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 05 Oct 07 - 03:12 AM Looks like we might not be able to either... it's been a rough year one way and another and we've just not got the resources available, unless we win the lottery. Of course if we DO win the lottery, I'll be busy with my new house and Manitas will have bought every melodeon in the country. LTS |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: Brendy Date: 12 Oct 07 - 01:25 AM There was talk of a trip to Torshavn in Faerøyene sometime in the Spring, and something Icelandic could be fitted in around there, I'd say... Playing in Iceland has been on my wish list for a good few years, now. An old friend of mine used to own The Dubliner in Reykjavik years back, and although having said I would play there often enough, he sold the place before I could take him up on his offer. We'll keep in touch skarpi, for sure.... B. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: skarpi Date: 12 Oct 07 - 02:26 AM Is that Jói ? or the Irish Fella ? I know Joi Brendy he has another place now called the Highlander . We also have the Cletic Cross . All the best Skarpi Iceland |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: MudGuard Date: 13 Oct 07 - 08:56 AM It is Loughstock Sixpack. And it will be the second one without me. I need to get repaired, and the surgery is scheduled for the week from 21th and 25th January, with a week to ten days at the hospital after the op (and some "stay in bed" time after that). |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: Leadfingers Date: 13 Oct 07 - 09:23 AM You will be missed Andy ! And I hope the 'repair' all goes to plan |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: Emma B Date: 16 Oct 07 - 10:32 PM Thinking about coming over again, would love to meet up with you and Gerry next year. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: MudGuard Date: 23 Dec 07 - 04:11 PM Now it's official, my surgery (hernia inguinalis) will take place in the last week of January, so I definitely can't make it in 2008. Even though the stay at the hospital afterwards will be much shorter than they told me before, I am supposed to stay in bed mostly for one to two weeks afterwards, and the doctors forbid me to go flying so soon after the operation. I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year! Enjoy Loughstock Sixpack 2008 (which might be much easier than the last few years as I won't bother you ... ;-) Andy/MudGuard |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: John MacKenzie Date: 23 Dec 07 - 04:16 PM Shame Andy, we shall miss you. Happy Christmas and a good new year to you too. Giok |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: MudGuard Date: 23 Dec 07 - 06:01 PM >> Andy, you will never lie 'short' in bed :) Depends on the surgeon - if he confuses me with some other patient who should get both legs removed ... ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 27 Dec 07 - 08:09 AM so is the flock definitely coming to Strangford Lough FEBRUARY 1, 2 AND 3? What does Fibula Mattock say? (if she wrote the constitution she can also change it) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 27 Dec 07 - 08:19 AM Not so much a flock... more like a small bird table's worth at the moment. Health and other problems are preventing an awful lot of people from attending next year. LTS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 01 Jan 08 - 08:49 PM Thanks Giok! My view last year was largely informed by self-interest, because we would have been able to attend OK if the gathering had been on the "traditional" weekend. There is another point, that the traditional weekend coincides with a monthly session at the Fiddlers for locial Irish traditional musicians. I always hoped that some sense of joint enterprise would develop between the locals and the invaders, but it never seemed to work out. (Herge and Jim would be the ideal catalysts for that chemistry to happen, but they usually head back to the deep north before the Sunday session gets going.) This year I'm sorry to say we won't be there whichever weekend it is. White Tiger's thoughts are now (inevitably) consumed by other matters, and I am more often in Bosnia and Croatia. Are Greg and Eric still Mudcatting and potential attendees? I hope enough turn up to keep Loughstock alive and kicking, as I'd like to think we'll be back in a year or two. Enjoy! |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 2008 From: Gulliver Date: 07 Jan 08 - 02:37 PM I haven't seen Gerry for a while, so don't know whether he can come. If the group is going to be so small, there is hardly any point, is there? If someone would like to come to Ireland this year, there's a few sessions on here in Dublin every weekend and I don't mind showing folks around. Don |
