As a 'highly extensible folk song' I thought perhaps
a group effort towards another fun verse would be in
order:

So, chip in with your lines from here:

(or perhaps WHEN somebody loses her virtue)

Hint: It occurs to me that 'virtue' rhymes with 'hurt you'

I added "Song Challenge" to the title since that seems to bed the title people use for such things. Right?

It's not that easy being a pirate
Having to pillage and rape and other ordinary things
People tend to want you hanging cause you're
Taking all their pearls and diamond rings

It's not that easy being a pirate
Having to watch the horizon every day for sail
And it's either a rich merchantman, or an armed frigate
Riches, or a ropes end and left hanging in a jail

You try dividing jewels and rich spoils amongst your crew
They cant understand the quantities, or count it, mate
And they expect so much what can a captain do?
