Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: Ebbie Date: 14 Mar 09 - 02:31 PM VirginaTam, these postholes work just about any way that you want to make use of them. Pleae take the lot- they're in my way here. Of course, I could stack them behind my house but it's unsightly enough back there already. You probably have more room than I so if you can't currently use them all, you could hold some out indefinitely; the good thing is that they are not perishable. |
Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: GUEST, topsie Date: 14 Mar 09 - 02:04 PM No, I hadn't looked at the date, thanks. As for keeping your soul in a coconut shell - I wouldn't try it when this lot around: Berkshire Bedlam |
Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: VirginiaTam Date: 14 Mar 09 - 01:44 PM I hear they got some pretty neat air guitars on ebay. And piscean pennyfarthings. I have some holey bottles for storing water or souls in. The coconut shells are ok for souls until some nutter decides to play Python's Holy Grail. Really annoying when that happens. Ebbie - those post holes? Do they work like the ACME holes in the Roadrunner cartoon? If so, put me down for 2. The second one is in case I fall into the first one, I will be able to get back. Hopefully. |

Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: GUEST, topsie Date: 14 Mar 09 - 12:57 PM Snail's post about 'pole tax' in the Blitherscrum thread - real or not? Well I can't find it. If nobody else saw it that might account for nobody picking it up - try again, Snail. |

Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: GUEST,AR Date: 12 Mar 09 - 06:49 PM A British man fed up with his wife's complaints advertised her for sale "Nagging Wife. No Tax, No MOT. Very high maintenance -- some rust," says Gary Bates. Bates, a self-employed builder from Gloucestershire, southwest England, snapped after his wife Donna on got on his nerves while she was watching television and decided to place the ad as a joke. "She was nagging me for doing something small, while she was watching some rubbish on TV. So I just thought I'd put an ad in to get rid of her. "I didn't think anyone would ring up but I've had at least nine or 10 people calling about her. It's gone mad. There was no one I knew -- just people asking, 'Is she still available?'" The couple only married last year, and Bates said his 40-year-old wife -- whom he advertised in the magazine's Free to Collect section, along with some of his fishing tackle -- initially gave him "a bit of an ear-bashing." |

Easy peasey, mate - Step 1 - make up some of your own disks Step 2 ...... well if you really want to make money, I'm sure you can work out the rest for yourself! :-p "if people don't pick up on your jokes straight away, it's probably not worth trying to bash them in with a hammer." Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: TheSnail Date: 20 Jun 07 - 11:05 AM Don't take me too seriously, Foolestroupe. I just meant that if people don't pick up on your jokes straight away, it's probably not worth trying to bash them in with a hammer. Can we get hold of the adresses of the people bidding for these discs? They could be a useful source of income. Even if they are real, $275!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: eBay items - real or not? From: GUEST,'e bayed & 'owled Date: 19 Jun 07 - 11:26 PM Below is the text of the eBay item mentioned at the start of the thread. They purge the auctions after awhile.: Up for auction here is a super rare production prop from James Cameron's masterpiece, Aliens (1986)!!! Recall the scene where the Colonial Marines were being briefed about the Alien, and the fate of the Nostromo, the night before thier mission to the Hadleys Hope colony. In this scene, Lt. Gorman says, "Anyhow, we have Ripley's report on disk; I suggest you study it." Upon reading the script, the FX crew made these disks to be handed out to each marine. However, they were ultimately not used, making this an awesome, production-made piece. Most were trashed after the filming, but a very few survived. This very rare prop relates to that memorable scene, and came directly from the FX department!! It's a 3.5" floppy disk, painted in the elusive Brown Bess color of all the Colonial Marines equipment. The label added is the text that would have been seen in a closeup shot of the disk. It looks to have been done on a typewriter, and the vintage font dates this 22 year old piece!! ----- Bidding starts at $275 for this 3.5" floppy disc. A black floppy disc with a printed label on it. |
