We have a problem with a Taylor 810-L1 acoustic guitar and are looking for recommendations for where to go (preferably in North East UK, but happy to travel further afield for the right one) to get it sorted.

Problem: There's a buzz when playing the 6th string at certain positions (most prominent from around 7th to 10th fret) - it seems to be from the bridge region rather than the fretboard.

Recently had the action lowered slightly and an under-saddle Fishman Matrix pickup installed. Our favoured technician (the one who has done all our guitar repairs etc - including this installation) is at a loss and cannot track down the cause.

We're not practical enough to set about removing the pickup and adjusting things ourselves, so would be grateful for suggestions/recommendations for a luthier/repairer to set the guitar up and sort this.

Hi Betsy

Thanks for the reply.

Richmond would be fine (150 mile round trip, but if it works out... no problem). Who do you have in mind?

Cheers
Jimmy & Val

Blackhawk and Trevor beat me to it but I gave 'em a good clue didn't I ? Should have read HD 28 (that slip will have cause some commotion with the purists) . Trev. ? Comfee Traveller ?.
Best of luck Jiva - combine your visit to Richmond with a day out there, lovely place, and if you need some good boots (English made in Richmond ) visit Factory shop - Altberg - and you might meet another Folksinger Mick Sheehan who is a leading light at the factory. He's great craic.

Best of luck with Nigel.

A bit late to jump in here, but if you're not already sorted out try Mark Challinor in Otley - 01943 468101. He does all my repairs and setups and is excellent.

Dave Gregory in York is a fine luthier - makes superb guitars and mandolins, and does excellent repairs. Fine player (with Los Yobos)as well.

Wow! A few good leads - very much appreciated.

We went to see Allan Taylor at Otley Folk Club yesterday, so called Mark Challinor. We've therefore asked him to look into the problem and do the set up for us.

Many thanks to Mudcatters for sharing info/experiences and making recommendations.
