Subject: Tune Req: The Jarvey was a Leiprechaun ,Skarpi Ice From: skarpi Date: 19 Jun 07 - 05:34 PM Hallo all , does anyone know a melaody to this song ? The Jarvey was a Leiprechaun . A half a dozen tourists stood outside a Lim´rick bar and though they´d like to take a trip by Irish jaunting car They jumped up on the side seats and it started down the street but they never saw the character upon the driver´s seat ...... this is first verse and they are about six of them so if any one know please let me know . Siggy Spaeth tried to link that tune to an Irish tune called "The Irish Jaunting Car." There several tunes & songs that are currently known as "The Irish Jaunting Car," but none of them sounds remotely like "The Bonny Blue Flag." The song writer was Harry McCarthy. That's name historically associated with the border area of counties Cork & Kerry. It might be fruitful to dig into old tunes from that area. |
