Subject: Lyrics needed: Wild Mountain Laurel From: Jena Peterson (email)TamLin6@aol.com Date: 12 Apr 99 - 12:49 PM I'm searching for the lyrics to a song. I fist heard it on the television show "Christy,” and Judy Collin's character, Hattie McCabe, sang it. It was absolutely beautiful, but they only played the first verse, and since then I haven't been able to find it. I'm hoping it wasn't written just for the show. Here's what I know of it. He took wild mountain laurel And wove it through her hair. She said she didn't love him, She said she didn't care. He wooed her with pink roses And purple columbine Did anything he could do To make her change her mind. I hope someone has heard this, and knows the rest of it. I'd really appreciate it! :) Sincerely- Jena Peterson |

Subject: RE: Lyrics needed: Wild Mountain Laurel From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Apr 99 - 02:26 PM I'm pretty sure it's not in Rise Up Singing, Laurel - maybe it's "Wild Mountain Thyme" you're thinking of. This really bugs me, because I'm sure I've heard this song several times. I kinda think "Wild Moundain Laurel" isn't the title, and that may may be what's throwing us off. Anybody want to watch the movie and see if the credits tell us more? Heck, transcribing the lyrics might be considered to be a heroic contribution to the entire Mudcat community. Maybe it would be an idea to continue this discussion in the other thread, which already has snippets of the lyrics. -Joe Offer- |
