Subject: Flower of Sweet Strabane. From: Sophie. Date: 13 Apr 99 - 09:23 AM Wait.....before you all jump on me and point out ever so rightly that this is in the database, that isn't the question. Actually I am looking for a lovely recorded version that I heard on radio Clare when I was in Ireland. It does not seem to be very old ( though I might be mistaken) en the singer is male with a lovely voice. I know it isn't much to go on, but if you have a recording of a man singing this song, then please enlighten me as I'd like to have a recorded version of this song anyway, although I'd really prefer the one heard in Clare. Cheers, Sophie |
Subject: RE: Flower of Sweet Strabane. From: Jon W. Date: 13 Apr 99 - 10:16 AM Johnny Moynihan recorded an a cappella version of this on a De Dannaan album called "Selected Jigs, Reels, and Songs" or something like that. I'm not sure if that's the one you want or not. |

Subject: RE: Flower of Sweet Strabane. From: Sophie Date: 14 Apr 99 - 08:54 AM Hello, Thanks for the info. The one I heard wasn't Johnny Moynihan, but I really love his voice, so I will check that out for sure! As for the other version, as I'm typing from my university's computer room I'm not at liberty to play sound clips. It has happened to me before, when a website automatically started to play a reel or something and the whole room looks at you. Actually quite fun, but I'm afraid I'll just have to find that one on CD for myself. Thanks again for the help. Sophie |
