I am looking for the lyrics and also the recording of the song, "Whatever" by the Statler Brothers. I am not talking about "Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott."

Can you remember anything of the song?
Is this the one where the parent/olderperson says or asks something, and the teenager's response is always, "Whatever"? I vaguely recall a song like that.

Allmusic.com says that The Statler Brothers recorded a song called WHATEVER on their album "The Legend Goes On," Mercury LP 826278, 1982.

To find the lyrics, it would probably help to have a quote from the song.

I found these lyrics at a square-dance web site. The lyrics were interspersed with square-dance "calls" which I have omitted. The lyrics were attributed to "Toots Richardson" who seems to be the square-dance caller who recorded this version.

Not sure if you found the lyrics ever...but I KNOW the song you're talking about and some of the lines were:

Holy smoke. It has been years since I heard this song. I listened to this as a child and my father would sing the lyrics wrong just to irritate me EX: whatever floats your piano, what ever plows your banana, whatever, whatever paints your horn or shucks your corn...
