Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Agai From: masato sakurai Date: 16 Jul 07 - 08:14 PM Gladys, it's easy to transpose to any key the Scorch score HERE (Click on the "two flats" icon). |
Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Agai From: GUEST,Gladys Date: 16 Jul 07 - 08:15 PM Yes, this is well known as the 'Don Messar closing tune' !! I play it (FIDDLE, we close off our Weekly Jam Sessions with this tune ) in key of G; a friend recently asked me if I could give them Sheet Music for it ... and I thought perhaps I might find a more decent version than that which I scratch out!! LOL Gladys |
Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Again From: GUEST,signing in Date: 16 Jul 07 - 09:02 PM Gladys, look in the other thread linked by Masato. There you will find a couple more sheet music references that are better than Levy. Jim gave a link to Indiana U, Masato gave one for American Memory/Duke. Check them out. |
Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Again From: masato sakurai Date: 17 Jul 07 - 09:00 AM The Levy Collection has just changed its design, along with URL for each song. This seems to be the new address for "Till We Meet Again." |
Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Again From: GUEST,Norval Date: 17 Jul 07 - 10:26 AM Gladys: The Levy site has your tune in the key of Ab. To transpose the tune into your requested key of A, play the notes as written on the ledger lines but imagine the key signature as being 3 sharps instead of 4 flats. Your pitch will be a half tone higher than is written on the sheet music. Somewhere buried in the bowels of Mudcat is a discussion (I can't find it) on the "Rule of Seven" which allows a semi-tone key change without rewriting the music by hand. Perhaps someone with better search skills than I can make a link. |

Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Again From: GUEST,GLADYS Date: 17 Jul 07 - 09:06 PM Thank you...guest Norval... for telling me how to change that score to the key of A ! And if you ever come across the Post on "Rule of Seven" (wich allows a semi-tone key change without rewriting the music by hand ) I, for one, would be very interested in learning more about this. I went to the SCORCH place... is there something to download before it is possible to see the score? Once again, thanks so much for your help Gladys :) |

Subject: RE: Sheet Music Request ~ 'Til we Meet Again From: GUEST,Norval Date: 18 Jul 07 - 03:55 PM Gladys: "The Rule of Seven" as I understand it, is transposing to a different key but reading the same sheet music. Using this tune as an example, the scale of Ab has 4 flats in the key signature (Bb Eb Ab Db). Raise those a half tone to make them naturals. The remaining notes in the scale are naturals (C F G), raise those half a tone to make them sharps and you now have the scale (key) of A. You may now play from the same sheet of music but in perhaps an easier key. The rule is Sharps plus Flats must equal 7. Note that each key change is only half a tone and the transposition can be in either direction, flats to sharps or sharps to flats. 6 flats (Gb) + 1 sharp (G) = 7 5 flats (Db) + 2 sharps (D) = 7 4 flats (Ab) + 3 sharps (A) = 7 3 flats (Eb) + 4 sharps (E) = 7 2 flats (Bb) + 5 sharps (B) = 7 1 flat (F) + 6 Sharps (F#) = 7 0 flats (C) + 7 sharps (C#) = 7 |
