SHEFFIELD FLOOD BENEFIT CONCERT
Lantern Theatre, Kenwood Park Road, Sheffield
Thursday 16th August - Tickets £10.00

Sheffield folk artists come together to aid flood victims

We all saw footage of the damage caused by the floods in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire. Many of us know people who were directly affected, losing everything to the water.

Sheffield is also one of the major centres of folk music in Britain, so folk musicians from Sheffield have come together to stage a benefit concert for flood victims.

Performing will be singer/musician/songwriter James Raynard, whose debut CD, Strange Histories, created waves when it appeared in 2005, Skyhook, the powerful instrumental trio featuring twin fiddles, storyteller and musician Raymond Greenoaken, and AT613, the duo of Simon Haywood and Shonaleigh (who will also act as MC for the evening).

All are accomplished, excellent performers, the cream of the Sheffield folk crop, and all longtime supporters of the Sheffield folk scene.

Tickets are priced at £10, with every penny raised going to the South Yorkshire Community Foundation Flood Disaster Relief Fund. The performers are giving their time and energy, the owners of the Lantern have donated the theatre for the evening, and everything is run by volunteers.

Additionally, there will be an auction of folk collectibles, given by artists who want to help but can't attend because of previous festival commitments – so bring your wallets and be prepared to bid.

This is in a great cause, and promises an evening of superb music and entertainment.

For more information and tickets, call Chris Nickson on 07845 711 264.

Get your tickets quickly - there aren't a lot of seats in the Lantern Theatre....

And I will send a book for auction or raffle prize or summat.....
.

For anyone who can't make it and wants to do something - there is a clean up of the Five Weirs Walk being organised for the 28th and 29th of July at various spots.

One of the founder visionaries of the FWW was Mike Wild - former musician with Sheffield City Morris and ecologist.
