It's a nice drive too. A longish one from the Seattle area, of course, but if you make it a two-day trek you won't be sorry. The prettiest drive is heading down the Oregon Coast. And then when you head inland it's very green and woodsy.

If I were down there, Frank, I'd want to go!

Francy ... thanks for the offer, but I'm right in the middle of deck building season and there's just no way I can get away. I am THE DECK MAN, after all. Have a good time. CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson

Frank,

You know I WANT to be there, but can't. Give my regards to Mark Dvorak and tell him for me that, when he gets home to Chicago, he and I ought to think about what could be done by us and Juel at the Fox Valley Folk Fest this Labor Day. I'm limited but game!

Also, tell Mark his phone number and e-mail address won't work for me. Did he move!!??

All the best with your good festival there in that most beautiful spot I've ever personally ever lived in!!

Art

If--and I do say "if"--I were to fly from Indianapolis and rent a car, where's the best flying/car-renting destination for Toledo, Frank?

Dave, until Frank gets back on here, here are some answers:

"Harbor Air has scheduled service into Newport from Portland, where connections can be made.

"Car rental is available at the Newport airport: 541 867 3655

"SAMPLE FARES
The following sample fares are from Sabre low-fare finder at Travelocity.com. It lists these flights under Alaskan Airlines, although the planes say "Harbor Air". You can check current check prices and book flights via Travelocity.com.

Portland to Newport
(from $126 round-trip, non-stop)"

Francy, remember, I said "if". Just an intriguing thought so far.

Depends (doesn't everything?) on finances, and on proximity of that date to my last prior chemo. Not to mention the input of my Beautiful Wife.

More's the pity, after an agonizing appraisal of all the factors, the short answer is, "I can't get there." Wish I could.
