For those who are as old as me, and therefore still buy CDs, it's also on Tom's CD, "Trolling for Owls." And the CD title makes perfect sense, in context. It's a fun CD, overall, especially for those who live in northern New England and have spent time in the mountain west. Both areas get picked on some.

The Remember Song
Written By: Tom Rush

Tom plays this tune with a capo on the 3 fret playing the chords D-G-A.
This is actually the chords F-Bb-C. However, I will chord the tune in D.
If you are a purist replace the D with an F, the G with a Bb, and the A with a C.

( Verses are all chorded the same )

Intro : Strum the D

VERSE
D                            G
I'm looking for my wallet and car keys
A                               Dao
....Well they can't have gone too farou
D                         Goae
Just as soon as I find my glasses
A                                     D
....I'm sure I'll see just where they are.

D                            G
Supposed to meet someone for lunch today,
A                        D
....but I can't remember where.
D                      G
or who it is that I am meeting
A                            D
....it's in my organizer some-where.

I might have left it on the counter,
maybe outside in the car
The last time I remember driving,
was to that memory enhancement seminar.

What's that far off distant ringing,
And that strangely familiar tone?
Must be the person I am meeting,
calling me on my brand new cordless telephone.

I might have left it under the covers,
maybe outside on the lawn
and I've got just one more ring to go,
before my answering machine kicks on.

Hi, this is Tom and your call means a lot to me,
so leave a message at the tone...
and I'll do my best to try to remember
to call you back when I get home

*Beep*

Tom, this is Gwendolyn,
and I'm trying not to cry.
but I've been waiting here for over an hour,
I thought you loved me, this is goodbye.

D                      G
Well...the voice sounds familiar,
A                         D
...,and the name it rings a bell.
D                   G      Stay in G and strum like you forgot )
Let's see now, where was I,
A       D
......Oh well. E

There is a YouTube video embedded in a blog on this page. It is labeled "Modern Day Yuppie Blues - Tom Rush". However, when you play the video, you hear him introducing the song thus: "This is kind of a modern-day yuppie blues." He's describing the song, not naming it.

If you follow the links you come to the YouTube web site, where the same video is labeled "Tom Rush - Remember Song,"
... written by Steven Walters and used with permission. Recorded at Humphreys By The Bay, San Diego, CA., this performance appears on Judy Collins' "Wildflower Festival" DVD and CD and is available from Tom's website at http://tomrush.com or iTunes at http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=254050397&s=143441
Following one more link, you come to Tom Rush's web site, where his own blog of June 24 says:
I've been waiting 45 years to be an overnight sensation, and it's finally happened! A video clip of my performance of The Remember Song (a/k/a Remember?) has "gone viral." (I felt terrible at first, thinking I was being accused of being a musical equivalent of Ebola; but my children explained to me that this was a Good Thing.) It's now had over 2.4 MILLION PLAYS. (It has been proposed that this may be because of just one of you who can't remember he's already seen it, but I think that's mean.)
His web site also plays an audio version of the song—I can't tell if it's from the same performance.

Modern Day Yuppie Blues

Looking for my wallet and my car keys,
Well they can't have gone too far;
And just as soon as I find my glasses
I'm sure I'll see just where they are.

Supposed to meet someone for lunch today,
But I can't remember where
Or who it is that I am meeting:
It's in my organiser ~ somewhere.

I might have left it on the counter;
Maybe outside in the car.
Last time I remember driving
Was to that Memory Enhancement Seminar.

What's that far-off distant ringing
and that strangely familiar tone?
Must be the person I am meeting
Calling me on my brand new cordless 'phone.

I might have left it under the covers,
Or maybe outside on the lawn;
And I've got just one more ring to go
Before my answering machine kicks on.

*Click*

"Hi, this is Tom and your call means a lot to me,
So leave a message at the tone
And I'll do my best to try to remember
To call you back when I get home."

*Beep*

"Tom, this is Gwendoline, and I am trying not to cry
But I've been waiting here for over an hour ~
I thought you loved me. This is goodbye!"

Hell, the voice sounds familiar,
And the name it rings a bell.
Let's see now, where was I?
Oh well...

Any 'catter' familiar with a song, possibly titled "Remember" that starts off:

Looking for my wallet and my car keys
Well they can't have gone too far
Just as soon as I find my glasses
I'm sure I'll see just where they are

Supposed to meet someone for lunch today
But I can't remember where
Or who it is that I am meeting
It's in my organizer somewhere

I might have left it on the counter
Or maybe outside in the car
Last time I remember driving
Was to that memory enhancement seminar
