A few years ago, my neice's son who was 16 at the time sent me a cassette. We'd been exchanging tapes for awhile, and he was interested in hearing anything I sent to him. In return, he shared some of his punk ska music with me (and I sent him some of the old ska in return.) One of the cassettes that he sent me was Titled
"Music We lived Our Lives By." A 16 year olds retrospective... I responded in kind, and it was a fun project for me. Coming up with a soundtrack for my life.

More recently, I listened to a CD I bought awhile back by a jazz musician, Charlie Haden. He did two or three similar CDs, and I was fascinated by the concept. He created the soundtrack to a Film Noir movie that only existed in his head. He even wrote a piece for the opening and closing credits. It was mostly instrumental, but included a couple of vocals that had electronically been lifted from the original recording and superimposed on new arrangements he played with his group.

And even more recently, I picked up a boxed set of the one and only season of Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer starring Stacy Keach. When I searched on the internet to see if they'd ever released a soundtrack, I couldn't find one. So, I made one. I didn't go as far as Charlie Haden, plotting a story and picking music for individual scenes, but there are late-night, bluesy bar songs, some higher energy "action" tracks and a couple of late night Chantoose vocals. I've been listening to it in the dark, and watching the movies it plays.

Makes me think that it might be fun to put together a romantice, love story soundtrack too.

This will probably be the shortest thread ever (not intentionally,) but I thought it was an interesting idea.
