Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 01 Aug 07 - 08:33 PM Do you realise that this clashes with Brian Bruce's Friday Folk booking? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 01 Aug 07 - 09:05 PM No contest! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Edward De Bono Date: 04 Aug 07 - 01:41 PM It's possible to do both - shoot up to Orpington at about 8.30 when Richard Phipps starts "Matty Groves" and be back in the field by 11.30 in time for the last verse! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Aug 07 - 04:50 PM Do they do log sized billet for people with woodburners and winter approaching..... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Kenneth Ingham Date: 07 Aug 07 - 03:28 AM Well done Debbie! I'm looking forward to cooking my sausages on the new dover logs - yipeee!!! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Sausages Not Guns Date: 07 Aug 07 - 03:33 AM I've heard that there is a firm in the dover area that catches illegal mexicans trying to get into the country disguised as asylum seekers. The thing is that they are reported to have a new scientific procedure called "The Loki Transmutation" that turns the mexicans into logs! So don't be surprised mr Ingham if your sausages taste of tortilla soaked in tequila! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Sliding Down The Bannister At My Auntie's House Date: 07 Aug 07 - 04:34 AM I hope to make it this year.Does that mad aussie bloke who built a shower one year still go? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: melodeon king Date: 07 Aug 07 - 07:53 AM That was Nigel. He emigrated to Eastern Europe and has disappeared without trace. He was a great laugh. He was always playing prctical jokes such as wearing a false beard, hiding DK's sauages, sleeping in the wrong field, burning loads of chickens, singing the welsh national anthem at midnight, drinking too much alcohol and pulling faces at folkmob people and other stuff like that. We missed him this year at the Edinbucket fringe events. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST Date: 07 Aug 07 - 01:23 PM Nigel went to Sydney not East Europe! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dipsodeb Date: 07 Aug 07 - 01:48 PM Yep Richard they also do friendly log sizes. They are apparently a happy friendly Pagan couple who may well book the weekend off and spend it at Knockholt with us lot. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 07 Aug 07 - 02:21 PM Pagan logs ? Will they burn any better than Christian ones? If not, feed 'em to leopards - "waste not - want not tha' knows." |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST Date: 09 Aug 07 - 01:15 PM Anyone know if the great john barden is making an appearance?
Thanks. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Aug 07 - 04:40 PM He is currently in Sidemouth and will thereafter be in Broadchairs, before you can expect elucidation. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: melodeonboy Date: 09 Aug 07 - 09:11 PM Are you sure he's going to Broadstairs? When I met him at Sidmouth he was rather critical of Broadstairs. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 10 Aug 07 - 01:07 AM He's usually there, but yes we both hate the way a sing gets going nicely then the allotted time expires and one is turfed out.... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 10 Aug 07 - 11:42 AM I hope he does turn up at knockholt. There's no fear of time running out there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Jugband Blues Date: 11 Aug 07 - 05:44 AM Refresh - Had a good time at Orpington last night! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Keith The Crazy Date: 12 Aug 07 - 06:15 AM I always have a good time - arriving at 21:27 without fail and singing "The Gambler" & "Gypsy Woman". |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: The Barden of England Date: 12 Aug 07 - 04:22 PM I'll certainly be at the Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival (what a posh name now too). Sometime on the Friday afternoon I suspect, caravan in tow, but without my significant other half. Before any of you ask if I've had liposuction, I mean the lovely Jan who's dancing at the Maidstone beer festival that weekend, so I'll have to chat up the sheep before Ricard Bridge grabs the prettiest one!! John Barden p.s. Melodeon Boys' report is correct. I'm critical of Broadstairs Festival for I can't understand how they have all those musicians there all week with nowhere to go before the hours of 12:30 and after 14:30. Sidmouth sessions start at 09:00 and go on to 03:00 the next day every day - and don't tel me that it happens at the school as what do you do if you ain't got a season ticket. No decent bus service from the campsite to town either - Sidmouth run one every 15 minutes until 02:45 am every day. Need I say more |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 12 Aug 07 - 05:49 PM School at Broadstairs as flat as a pancake this year (last year too) and nothing in the Moor and Coast tent either. Also, I felt very slighted in the sinaground in the Yacht Club this year when it seemed to me that a certain big name implied that I ought to have opened the door for him (when to do so would have meant reaching across him and effectively preventing his egress). I have had to leave Broadstairs early this year owing to excess work, but it seems to me even less folkie this year so far. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: woodsie Date: 28 Aug 07 - 05:27 AM Refresh Yes John, a couple people have done the song Autumn Leaves at FolkMob recently including a superb duet with flute and alto sax by paul & Sara and a stunning acappela by Debbie 'n Pat's daughter Sarah. So the title stuck in my mind when I posted this the name thing is just something I've been making up make up for each knockholt and they're usually song titles: Midsummer Madness (Not Yet Written) Autumn Almanac (Kinks) Here Comes Summer (Undertones) Autumn Leaves (Nat King Cole) Suggestions for next summer welcome. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: woodsie Date: 31 Aug 07 - 04:09 AM Only 5 days to go |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 31 Aug 07 - 05:53 AM I'm not going to be able to make it until Friday..... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: melodeonboy Date: 31 Aug 07 - 12:25 PM I should also be rolling up (figuratively speaking!) on Friday. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,woodse Date: 01 Sep 07 - 05:34 AM Look forward to seeing ye both! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dipsodeb Date: 01 Sep 07 - 07:45 PM I shall be rolling up on Weds! ;-) Hmmmm |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Day Tripper Date: 02 Sep 07 - 05:17 AM Roll up for the mystery tour, it's waiting to take you away |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 02 Sep 07 - 01:27 PM Oh no not the beatles. I should be in the field at abou 11:00 wednesday. Set up de tent, build de fire, go to de pub! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 02 Sep 07 - 04:05 PM Picked up a veritable carload of wood from my dad's today. So we could get the fire roaring early this time. It'll be a close run thing as to who gets the prettiest sheep as R and J are arriving on the same day. There could be stiff competition from Melodeonboy. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Essex Girl Date: 03 Sep 07 - 08:15 AM Have to go for a couple of interviews Wednesday and Thursday morning (need to get a job now I've spent most of the redundancy money)but I should be down Thursday afternoon providing I find a neighbour to help me hook up as son will be in Ibiza. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Sep 07 - 04:19 PM Dang, Essex Girl, you were just getting used to this "life of leisure" business too, no? You have SUCH a lot of catching up to do. The rate some things are changing, the sheep will have to do a bit of running to keep up (not for me, of course, but on some others...) But I'm sure that there will be plenty with stories to tell... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dilligaf Date: 03 Sep 07 - 07:21 PM ME coming, Friday after work be there 5ish, Good luck finding some one to hook you up linda and good luck with the sheep boys, why are there never any real rams around just ewes? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 03 Sep 07 - 08:10 PM I think that the above comments from Dilligaf demonstrate the need for a midwinter camp. Brrrr... that'd be when the ram's there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Kev The Clogs Date: 04 Sep 07 - 06:53 AM hiya, I'll be turning up about two on Friday afternoon. Wouldn't miss it for the world after my first visit earlier in the year. Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend with like minded Caters - August has been great, but HECTIC - I need mellow, and Knockholt fits the bill perfectly. See you on Friday then. Kev ps Hoffmeister, I'll have a word with some of the sheep and put in a good word for you. Dilligaf, I'm hurt! :-) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Sep 07 - 08:57 AM Cat, bag, out??? Twice? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dilligaf Date: 04 Sep 07 - 01:31 PM Does that mean I get to share my tent with you Richard, The sheep and Kev better bring the big one then unless you boys have a big one, tent that is or is there room in your vardo for all of us?xx |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Sep 07 - 02:55 PM Definitely not me! And I'm not having sheep in my trailer unless they wear nappies. Now there's a thought, paedophilia with sheep, mmmmmmmmmmm! You be careful, you'll give Kev the hump, which is quite incompatible with sheep. If you want a big one I have two in the garage. (Tents, that is. Jacqui's old two-bedroom framie and an 8-scout Lillywhite Frowde with alas no scouts otherwise a certain tenor might join us for the weekend...). |
