I'd like to get three or four myself. (I'm in the US.) How about posting costs, method of payment, postage needs, etc. on the open thread rather than PMing? Please...thank you.

Tig,

Did you get my PM? I'd like another and a couple for other Mudcatter folks. Are you able to send them cross pond? Thanks!

Hi Chris and John.
Put me down for one please as Soldier Boy.
50p is far too cheap for your wonderful badges and I insist on paying a quid!
I've been telling you that for years but you insist on not raising your prices in line with the price of beer and the last time you raised your prices beer was 50p a pint! (but that could have been based on the cost of a pint of Sam Smiths Old Mill Brewery Bitter in The PLough in Whitby which has always been well below the market price)
That just shows how long you lovely people have been supplying and amusing all of us with your badges and how long I have been coming to Whitby Folk Week!
See you both in Whitby me dears as per usual.
Oh The Plough,The Plough, wherefore art though now?!!!!

I have seen a similar thread elswhere, different band but the same dynamic. "I want other people from the message board to be able to find me at an event." Hence the Badge, Button, Nametag, whatever.
Have somebody put the image up on a photo sharing site. Then every one can print it out put double sided tape on the back... and it's off to the show.

The whole idea of the name badges is that you use your MUDCAT name!!!
Of course this means that it might also be your own name.

Badges can be ordered for other Catters - but the name must be 'pm'able - unless you can provide a valid reason for it not being.

I make buttons at the Washington Folk Festival, ( and we can probably do so at the Getaway) with Mudcat names on them, but we do not have the artwork for the logo. So...

Collect all three!

( actually, the WFF and Getaway have new artwork each year, so you would want a whole set. I think BillD has a complete set- not sure about anyone else.)

Maybe can order two - one with my Mudcat name and another that says "Will Whine About Not Having Mudcatters Nearby for donations to the Mudcat!" I think Amos is closest to me and he's 2 and half hours drive down the 405.

Just this evening I was singing along to a CD and my neighbor heard me and said "Wow - I didn't know you could sing" and I felt like saying, yeah, and nobody else does either pal. Where oh where are the Los Angeles bands in need of a girl harmony singer? My string playing rather sucks these days due to joint disease but the throat still works.

Oh well, you all have a good time together with your name badges and festivals over there in the UK and don't worry about me here in LA singing in the dark by myself......

(feel sorry for me yet? No? That's OK. I have two nice cats and a lovely garden! Oh, yes and a swell husband.)

We're stewards on the artist campsite MG John but I'm certain we can manage to organise meeting up. We don't take the badge stall to Whitby for various reasons.

Usually there's a Mudcat Gather sometime over the week.

Hi Tig,
I sent you a pm recently but as I appear to have been having problems with this system, I am not sure whether you received it! Are yoou going to Whitby FF? If so perhaps you could make a badge with MG John on it? Will you be having a stall in the Festival Office? If not, is there anywhere else where you will be?
John.

Hiya Tig, I think (I think ) some Twat keeps nicking mine. They ask me what's that ? and I notice when I'm half pissed (sometime later) that it's gone !!!! Fair play - I haven't got any locks of hair. Maybe I'm just careless (I don't think so) and that some light fingered person(s) do it for fun. No matter - put me down for 2 and I shall pay the totally less-than-exorbitant fee at Saltburn where I hope to engage you in a pint.

Cheers Betsy

Just to clarify, (and not wishing to step on Tig's toes)
These are 58mm (2.25 inch), round, badges, attached with a 'safety pin'. I think that Stateside they would be referred to as 'Buttons'

50p sounds like a manageable (i.e., small-enough) sum; I'd consider buying one even though I don't forsee a practical use (attendance at any pertinent event) in the near future.

(I do fear losing the badge before ever using it, but perhaps that could be preevnted by burying it at the bottom of the pick-box in my guitar case.)

Would you accept US currency, or a check in US form, at your Doncaster address? If so, how much should I send in dollars-and-cents for the 50p-plus-postage? Or, would direct payment to Max at Mudcat Cafe HQ in the US, plus a letter (or PM) to you in England, do the trick?

I can see that round badges (as opposed to the standard-format little rectangles designed for insertion into cheap little standard-format plastic holders) would not be easily produced in the "do-it-yourself" manner I had imagined.

I'd just be getting the one ~ no fellow 'catters in my immediate area...

The badges we make are 58mm round ones with the mudcat logo and name on. They have been sent all over the world in the years we have been Catters - with a cut from them going to Mudcat.

We are quite happy to post them to the States. In that case payment goes straight to the Cat and we make allowances for it to save messing around changing currency. As you say it's a useful way of putting names to faces.

We'll keep making them as long as we have the bits - but I can't say how long that will be.

We need your Mudcat name, an address, 50p each and either a SAE or the postage (large letter covers several) to

I hsave no immediate plans to attend any Mudcat function, but would sorta like to show up one of these years at the Getaway or some such event, and I am a great believer in name badges for any and all coventions, reunions, etc., because I have a very bad memory for names, especially when meeting multiple new people (or matching multiple new faces with familiar names).

Is this is UK-only (or UK-mostly) project? Or are western-hemisphere Mudcatters using these badges when attending events as well?

If y'all are thinking of giving up the badge business, perhaps you could allow badge production to continue on a do-it-yourself-basis by posting a PDF or Word document or something that peopole could print out for themselves. (PDF would not allow the user to type in his/her own name, but the person could handwrite/handprint the name on a printout. An MSWord document might be prefereable becasue users could easily type in a name before printing.

There are templates available for standard Avery name-badge forms, eight to a page if I'm not mistaken...

We've a couple of requests in for new name badges for Mudcats. If you are thinking of getting one please can you pm me soon as we like to make them in batches.

They cost 50p each plus SAE (postage is large letter).

We can hand deliver to Saltburn or Whitby.

Thanks
Tig
