Picking Sooty Blackberries is available here a steal at 10 pounds or 20us inc shipping. It is also straight from the people who published after Keith's untimely death. If that's not enough it has some bloody good songs in it too.

I echo Leadfingers sentiments and clearly link the memory of Keith's untimely death with that of Peter Bellamy. Two great Uk singers who must surely have secured their place in the Folk rolls/halls of fame.

Keith was from a working class background and sang many years in and around Leeds, being associated with Brian Senior and Peter Ogley and The Grove Inn which is still a live folk venue and folkie pub.

He was able to empathies with the thoughts and feelings of the ordinary people whom he knew or came into contact with.
He liked a pint and smoked and liked a joke. But his song writing was innate inspired and cleverly crafted and most of all singable. Keith learned his craft through traditional song inspiration and osmosis.

Any of Keith Marsdens songs are worth singing - Picking Sooty Blackberries is well worth the finding , as are any of Cockersdales recordings .
Keith is one of those fine writers whose songs have been accepted into 'the tradition' and are too often sung without any reference to the composer , who died FAR too young more than ten years ago .

During our session last Friday night there was an English fellow named Jeff who came for the first time and sang this song. A few people said they wanted the words. Now I hope someone can remember the tune, or Jeff comes back, which would be even better.

Old Peculier (note the spelling - a famous North Yorkshire beer) was written by the late Keith Marsden and sung by our group - Cockersdale (started by Keith) It is available in our book "Picking Sooty Blackberries" and on "Prospect Providence" I've just scanned the words in for you - hope they come through OK
