Subject: Folk Dickens World Medway UK Thur 9 Aug? From: Richard Bridge Date: 08 Aug 07 - 08:50 AM Well, not exactly "Folk" in the pickled in aspic sense.... Thursday was going to be the first "Folk Dickens" night upstairs in the bar at Dickens' World (Maritime Way, Chatham) - but the planned featured performer's significant other has put her pretty foot down and sabotaged him. Does anyone fancy a bit of a sing on Thursday Night at Dickens World - might turn out to be singaround/jam format or it might turn out to be open mic - I'll bring a bootload of equipment in case, but I'm not really expecting to want it - Anything goes. Of course some of you will be at Sidmouth - but pass it on to anyone who isn't. Folkmob, pass it on - Shirt murderer - pass it on - Skinny Rats - pass it on - Gundulfs - pass it on - rehearsal for Broadstairs? Soho Wilburies - how about a public rehearsal!!? Plan is to charge non-performers £4 per head to come in, and to put the receipts into a beer pot for us (this time, at least). Further plan is for this to be regular and turn into a concert slot or featured performers slot for paid musicians in due course - regular Thursdays, I think once a month rather than once a week (but I'm not sure) so get your brown-nosing in first if you want to be a superstar! Post or PM me for info. |

Subject: RE: Folk Dickens World Medway UK Thur 9 Aug? From: growler Date: 08 Aug 07 - 04:55 PM Having played every Weekend since they opened, including placating people when the rides went down, with horrible regularity and arranging acts, when we couldn't make it. One would think it would be only good manners to let me know that a folk night was planned, but it seems that plain, old fashion manners are dead. Shame !!! |

Subject: RE: Folk Dickens World Medway UK Thur 9 Aug? From: Richard Bridge Date: 08 Aug 07 - 05:09 PM If there is an implication (despite the conversation we have just had) that I rather than Dickens World should have let you know, (it may not be what you intend, but it might be what it looks like from the words of your post) you were the first person I tried to ring as soon as I knew, this afternoon - but the mobile number you have given me belongs to a surprised woman who doesn't want to be called Simon, my call to your work mobile went to ansaphone, and my early evening call went to BT 1571. |

Subject: RE: Folk Dickens World Medway UK Thur 9 Aug? From: growler Date: 08 Aug 07 - 05:26 PM I have no argument with you, but if Dickens World, having charged punters £12 a time, wants cut price music, they can look elsewhere. |
