Subject: RE: Lyr Help- [Brown?]-Eyed Prairie Rose From: Jim Dixon Date: 11 Aug 07 - 08:57 AM Wilf Carter a.k.a. Montana Slim wrote and recorded MY BROWN-EYED PRAIRIE ROSE in 1938. It's on the Bear Family 8-CD box set "Cowboy Songs." (This information is from Allmusic.com and the Online 78-rpm Discographical Project.) I transcribed this from a sound sample: You can take sweet violets blue, All the other flowers too, But the red rose is the flower of my heart. When the sun has gone to rest 'Neath the mountains in the west, I'm happy with my brown-eyed prairie rose. |
