Subject: (Bangor) American Folk Festival From: Greg B Date: 13 Aug 07 - 06:49 PM Any Catters going to be there on Friday? We have to start our journey home from Pushaw Lake on Saturday, but thought we might catch Green Fields of America on Friday evening. |

Subject: RE: (Bangor) American Folk Festival From: Charley Noble Date: 13 Aug 07 - 08:12 PM Greg- It's free and entertaining. But they do not hire anyone from the State of Maine who hasn't learned his/her folksongs at his grandfather's knee. Apparently that rule does not apply if you're from out of state or from some other country or planet. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: (Bangor) American Folk Festival From: Greg B Date: 13 Aug 07 - 09:29 PM True, Charley, they seem to have the objective of bringing in folks from outside of the state--- which I guess makes some sense as Maine is so folkie in and of itself that you could just listen to Maine stuff all the time if you were from there. But the line-up is impressive, and very diverse--- they're putting Jim Payne et. al. together with the Northern Neck Chanteymen. Clever. They do call it 'American' not 'Maine' so I guess that's the mission. |
