That's a shame, I've just got back from Denmark, my formal choir sang at the Vendhessel festeval in Hjoerring and at the Randers festival... mind you, it wasn't exactly folk!

Kroner rate is pretty good at the moment, about £100 to dkk1000. If anyone wants to go and needs coins, I've got about £8 worth of kroner going spare here...

40th Anniversary of the Irvine Marymass Folk Festival is on at the same time. No competition, the event is unique, look it up. No armbands, everyone who pays to see a concert is entitled to stay on for the after concert sing-around/session. Loads of very good sessions and concerts going on all over the place. Absolutely brilliant the most welcoming and open armed festival in the world and one of Scotland's longest running.

Line up:
- Tuesday 21st August - The McCalmans
- Wednesday 22nd - Archie Fisher; Adam McNaughton; Arthur Johnstone and Heather Heywood.
- Thursday 23rd August - Kent DuChane; Johnny Silvo & Fraser Spiers; Eddie Walker.
- Friday 24th August - The Fureys and Davey Arthur
- Saturday 25th August - Surprise
- Sunday 26th - Survivors Session & Final Final Survivors Session

Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Oh man I wish I was on the other side of the pond. I have a hat from Tonder...got it at the Sally Ann, no kidding. What a lineup.

And Teribus, thanks for that tip, Irvine looks like a wonderful time as well. I really like the less-is-more approach to programming, not to mention the concepts of "Survivors Session & Final Final Survivors Session"

Regards
W-O

Well...
I am currently working in Stavanger and one of the guests at Irvine will be the band who play in the Stavanger Irish pub. They're great fun, multinational and damn good musiicians and singers too..
They're also bringing over about 35 Norwegian folkies with them! Not me though as I am a Scottish folkie and will be home next Friday so I'll be going anyway. It'll be wierd to see my Norwegian friends out of their normal environment..Should be fun sessions...
