Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Under the Quarter Moon (Carla Sciaky) From: GUEST,Genevieve and Emily's Dad Date: 10 Feb 14 - 09:28 PM This and "Evermore", also from the Quarter Moon album, were two of the lullabies that I used to sing the girls to sleep - some 23 years ago. I hadn't sung it in years and then something tugged that mental thread bringing it to mind. I realized I couldn't recall all the lyrics. Thanks to Rex for posting them back in `99 and uncountable thanks and best wishes to Carly Sciaky. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Under the Quarter Moon (Carla Sciaky) From: GUEST Date: 26 Sep 09 - 05:49 PM HI. you have me so confused, so tearful, so full of love and understanding nothing but empathy, and compassion; i was humbled a long time ago YES I know. See how life can be so mentally devastating...that what I felt in your presence; someone who knew me so intimitly that just breathing the same air was somehow a sexual experience....Now I complete my material and mundane issues of human existance...my own unique experience placed before me karma I've learned...but life so new; so amazingly new...it's true,; for me it's ever new....I admit it; ok, I do remember you.CS |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Under the Quarter Moon (Carla Sciaky) From: Joe Offer Date: 21 Jul 09 - 01:56 PM ....and "Under the Quarter Moon" is now available on a Carla Sciaky album called Rewind: the Vinyl Years. Clever album title, eh? - although I've never actually seen anybody rewind an LP.... You can listen to the song on Carla's Myspace site. Beautiful song - it sounds very familiar. I wonder if anybody else has recorded it. Gee, this is wonderful stuff. Every song on her MySpace site is a gem - but "Quarter Moon" set me into Great Lakes nostalgia and brought a tear to my eye. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Looking for lyrics to 'under the quartermoon' From: Alex Date: 20 Apr 99 - 07:49 PM What is Carla doing these days? She seems to have dropped out of sight and the EMail contact and phone number I had doesn't work. I'd like her to play at my folk club - anybody got a contact for her? (please DON'T publish it - I figure she likes her privacy. Just say you have one and I'll post a contact for me). |
Subject: RE: Looking for lyrics to 'under the quartermoon' From: rob d. Date: 20 Apr 99 - 02:49 PM This song also is on the MPR (Minnesota Public Radio) CD called Keepers. It may still be in print, and if it is, you should be able to order it directly from them. It has a bunch of great songs on it by various performers, so would not be a bad acquisition in any case. rob d. |
Subject: Lyr Add: UNDER THE QUARTER MOON (Carla Sciaky) From: Rex Date: 20 Apr 99 - 12:03 PM I dug out the album last night. It seems it isn't in print at this time. And the title is indeed "Under the Quarter Moon", Propinquity Records, 1988. No wonder I couldn't think of it. I didn't say before that the song was written by her. (Carla) As you're not likely to find the words elsewhere and spreading Carla's name around seems like a good thing, here's the words to it. ^^ UNDER THE QUARTER MOON (Carla Sciaky, Salonica Publishing Co.) Chorus: As the wind slips over your waters Sing to me sweetly Superior Sing me a Chippewa Story Under the quarter moon Who has walked along your shoreline Sweetly sing, sweetly sing Ancient footsteps washed before mine Under the quarter moon chorus: Who has tasted your lilting breezes Sweetly sing, sweetly sing And watched the cycle of your seasons Under the quarter moon chorus: Who has heeded your murmured warnings Sweetly sing, sweetly sing Of coming storms with snowy winds roaring Under the quarter moon chorus: Who like me has sat daydreaming Sweetly sing, sweetly sing Lulled by your crystal waters gleaming Under the quarter moon chorus: Would that I possessed your vision Sweetly sing, sweetly sing Your timeless eyes and silent wisdom Under the quarter moon chorus: Now then, while that album isn't around anymore, here is what she has available. I figure a plug for Carla won't hurt anyone. Awakening Spin the Weaver's Song Wishes and Dreams: Songs composed with kids, for kids These are available at Swallow Hill in Denver (see above for website) Also available at Elderly Instruments (www.elderly.com) Alright, I'm done now.
