Subject: RE: Folk Dickens EVERY Thur (NWKent, UK) From: Girl Friday Date: 09 Oct 07 - 12:44 PM Should we not come it'll be because Trevor has a very heavy cold. We went to Fox and Hounds last night to see Pigs Ear (they were brilliant).. Trevor croaked his way through Roger De Lodger. Incidentally, there is a Morris Session there tomorrow night(strictly no dancing). |
Subject: RE: Folk Dickens EVERY Thur (NWKent, UK) From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Oct 07 - 07:01 PM Could an elf change the thread title to 2nd and 4th Thursdays, and PM Growler and MelodeonBoy to do their own PR on here please? I made it very plain when this started that I did not want the responsibility of co-running anything or co-hosting anything, or residenting anything. I don't know if Barden is committee or not, but I defnitely am NOT! Rant over. |
Subject: RE: Folk Dickens EVERY Thur (NWKent, UK) From: growler Date: 10 Oct 07 - 05:04 PM As Richard has said, this is now running on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, in this case tomorrow at 7.15 pm. I wont be their 'till 9 ish, but The Shirt Murderer and Cari should be on time. It is hoped that every 6 or so weeks, a big name can be employed to fill the theatre, ( 500 seats ), John Barden is looking into that. so be there or be somewhere else. Richard, you are a brick, and it wasn't the intention to leave you holding the baby. |

" IMHO as someone involved in folk for some years, this really seems a bit ambitious. If we can't get the session running every week with the committed people who ARE involoved, what hope have we in getting others into a large theatre? Who stands to lose money from that? And can they afford to? As there are similar ventures already established in Chatham, should we try not to run before we can walk? Sorry we won't be there tonight as Trev, though, a lot better, hasn't got his voice back yet. See you in 2 weeks |
Subject: RE: Folk Dickens EVERY Thur (NWKent, UK) From: growler Date: 11 Oct 07 - 05:59 PM Girl Friday,We are not talking of a pub folk night, if any money is to be lost, it will not be ours. If Dickens World wants this, as they have stated they do and they are funding it, it is down to them if it costs them money. We can only try to realise the plan that Kevin Christie has, if you don't want to be part of this, fine. But I do not see that it is your business, wether he can afford it or not, it is a multi-million pound venture |
Subject: RE: Folk Dickens EVERY Thur (NWKent, UK) From: Richard Bridge Date: 11 Oct 07 - 06:19 PM Peace, children. Was very nice to have Paul and Norman tonight, look forward to seeing both back with their real guitars soon..... |
Subject: RE: Folk Dickens EVERY Thur (NWKent, UK) From: Girl Friday Date: 17 Oct 07 - 08:50 AM I didn't mean to upset anybody. I offered a few words of caution - that's all. Of course we'll still come along to the sessions. Hope some other people do too. |
