Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... From: Lady Policeman Date: 29 Aug 07 - 05:38 AM We're going for the first time and don't really know what to expect. We met some great people in the Black Horse and Black Swan at Whitby and they easily persuaded us. We'll probably buy a season ticket and not use it as usual (it's a tradition we like to uphold!) but I will insist on seeing the Karine Polwart Trio and all the Saturday concerts. Where are the best sings in the pubs? See you there. Kath and Bill |

Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: Soldier boy Date: 07 Sep 07 - 10:31 AM Hi folks. This is a really great festival and I warmly recommend it to everyone. It has a very strong line up of artists for concerts and workshops etc and also, equally important in my opinion, a very strong 'fringe'. So there's lots of singarounds and musician sessions in the pubs etc ( I've always found The Manor, opposite The Civic centre, to be a brilliant venue for these, but there are other great venues as well) Just a quick question: Are camping-only tickets available again this year and do you have to pick them up first at the Festival Office or can you pay at the campsite when you arrive? Thanks. Chris |

Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: BusyBee Paul Date: 11 Sep 07 - 04:14 AM Oh heck - Otley Folk Festival is toooooo good a weekend to get embroiled in "Mudcat politics" shenanigans. Anyone who hasn't been - come on in - it's a great town, lots going on, all local businesses taking part and welcoming the visitors. Get yourselves there! (And Steve always has good weather too!) |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: HipflaskAndy Date: 11 Sep 07 - 04:38 AM Aye, seconded. Our band second album is being 'pressed' as we speak - due for official launch at the fest Sat aft concert in the Civic Hall. All welcome! - cheers Duncan McF |

Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: muppitz Date: 12 Sep 07 - 07:45 AM I think me and joules will be coming up for Saturday, I'm trying to convince her to take the campervan and then we can have a comfortable stay-over rather than having to sleep in the car which is what she's suggesting!!!! We did it once for Banbury festival, not pretty!!! muppitz x |

Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: Tyke Date: 17 Sep 07 - 01:30 PM Sad news for the organizers of OFF 2007 and worse for the Farmers. Please check the festival website for News. |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: Emma B Date: 17 Sep 07 - 01:37 PM no "definate" news on the website yet but "fingers crossed" that if the usual site is unavailable suitable alternative arrangements may be made. |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: jimL Date: 17 Sep 07 - 02:00 PM A new campsite has been arranged. It is on the other side of Otley from the usual campsite, on the river side of the A660 between Otley and the A65 junction. Here is a map http://tinyurl.com/3d45s9 The site will not have running water, so please bring plenty of drinking water and containers. Jim |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: Tyke Date: 17 Sep 07 - 04:11 PM Oh I am pleased Jim! Thats a lot better than the Local BBC News report on the festival on the BBC Breakfast Programe this morning. |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: GUEST,Wheatman Date: 17 Sep 07 - 06:47 PM This is my first visit and I am concerned about the change in camping venue (I have a caravan). Is the new site caravan friendly? No running water could also be a problem. |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: MG John Date: 18 Sep 07 - 03:46 AM To: Guest Wheatman, I was wondering about that, because I used to live very close to the new site, and the area is on a hill on the north side of the town opposite Otley Chevin. I would guess that it is part of the Grammar School, in which case there will be levelled off areas. However, I do not know if they will be available for motor-caravans and caravans etc. Hopefully the website will give out more details SOON. John |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: GerryMc Date: 18 Sep 07 - 03:50 AM AFAIK the new campsite (field) will take tents, campers and caravans. We were looking for a site that would take everybody rather than have to have split sites. Hopefully Yorkshire Water might come to the rescue re. running water. If I get any more news I'll post up here Gerry :-) |
Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: GerryMc Date: 18 Sep 07 - 03:51 AM and I think that postcode/map link is wrong Gerry :-) |

Subject: RE: Otley Folk Festival (UK)... 2007 From: GUEST,snozz Date: 18 Sep 07 - 05:10 AM The arrow in the original map was an artifact that only appeared when the link was followed. I've done another map showing campsite location and festival office. Festival Campsite I was told by one of the organisers last night that there *should* be water available - Yorkshire Water are trying to sort out a tap from the mains. I'll post confirmation of this if I get an update. There will be the usual shuttle buses to town all weekend. Snozz |
