Haven't been to the festival but Hutton-le-Hole is my favourite place on the planet.

For the last few years Gedpipes has run a session in the Kings Head pub and it's been great fun - I'm not sure if he is doing it this year.

Good day on Saturday at Ryedale Folk Museum. Wendy (Mrs Banjiman) was performing along with others (I'll put up a list later). Stage was set for Sunday as well though we couldn't get there

Ryedale folk museum is an excellent venue for a family folk w/e with a good pub and camping site literally next door.

There is a plan to make the Festival On The Moor Folk weekend bigger, better and more publicised at the same venue for next year.....watch this space.

Looking forward to Thursday night at Danby as well....Stan Gee, Endeavour Shantymen and Wendy Arrowsmith- should be a good night!

Lot's of other good stuff happening as well!

It's just a shame that Richard had to chose the same weekend as the (very close) Black Bull Bender charity folk weekend, which has been running on that weekend for the past 26 years.

According to the programme, Christine Williamson is running the session at the Kings Head on Friday. I hope to be there.

I missed last weekend because I was at the Black Bull Bender - an excellent weekend. I hope Richard will move the festival next year so it does not clash with the Bender.

Great night last night at Danby...real good mix of stuff

Stan Gee played some great clawhammer banjo and a good selection of American Old Time and Cowboy Songs

Endeavor Shantymen men raised the roof with some stirring shanties and sea songs

Added bonus of the excellent singing of Mick West (and his stunning guitarist who's name escapes me) providing some Scottish stuff.

and Wendy Arrowsmith..better let someone else comment on her performance, I'm biased!

More tonight....Steve Dawes & Helen Pitt, Mick West & Frank McLaughlin (might be a clue as to the guitarists name!), Suzy Bradley, The Hoi Polloi, The North ....and a musicians session.

All at Kings Head Hotel Kirkbymoorside..get yoursleves down there!

I've just spoken to Richard Grainger:

Farndale Village Hall is as Tootler's posting

The musicians session at Kirkbymoorside Kings Head Hotel is as Tootler's posting

The performers at Kirkbymoorside Kings Head Hotal are:

Suzy Bradley, Hoi Polloi, The North....and possibly one other if they can get across the Moor quickly enough!

I hope that is a bit clearer

Paul

Pluses and minuses from tonight...

What a fine singer Lucy Ward
is. Anyone who sings unaccompanied at a beer festival and pretty much silences a tent of boozers has to have a certain something

Never heard her before in my life but good.

Minus -

The 'session' ended and went home at 10:45.

Hi Padraig,

I think you'll find there are a series of events this year under The Festival on The Moor Banner, the one in May is the Ryedale Folk weekend. My understanding is that there will also be a weekend around the end of August (29th-31st) with details TBC.

Ryedale should be good though....there is a thread for this already running.

Cheers

paul
