i am the one who rote this and i lerned it at a girl scout camp and maybey they just made it up it goes somthing like this this is the chores or part of it

"Peace" is correct - all the other words listed are for Sail Away Ladies. I can remember singing Barges when I was a little kid at GS camp. (And I even remember some of the words to this day)

So I LOVED this song when sitting around the campfire.

I used to have the songbook that had this in it, but my parents got rid of it once I went to college.

I added a third verse that was missing.

I am making a cd of my favorite songs and was so happy that just a month ago you posted all the verses to this beautiful tune. The lyrics I learned warned not to trust a blue-eyed girl from Albany, but otherwise were very similar. Thanks for making this available and thanks to the person who made the first two verses available. It seems that this song is only remembered by former campers of Camp Judy Layne. Like the sailor for whom it speaks, it will soon look away- hey away- sail away...

I learned "Sailin' Away from Boston Town" at camp Judy Layne in the summer of '72 from Mary Sue Webb. Glad to have all the lyrics -- I only remembered the 1st and last verse.

I was looking this up to see if there were more verses I didn't know and I find it fascinating that Campy Judy Layne seems to be the only source for this. Wonder who wrote it. This is my favorite and my sister and I still sing it together <3
