Subject: RE: What did you listen to last night? From: Cats Date: 07 Oct 07 - 04:24 PM A group of Cornish fiddlers, the youngest being about 6 years old, Dalla with friends, various folkies singing The wedding Song,[Come Write Me Down], Ellie, a stunningly good hammered dulcimer palyer and two superb fiddlers [one of which flew down from Newcastle where he has just started the folk Music degree]and all to celebrate the wedding of Karensa Newman [used to be Karensa Wragg]to Derek Wright. The setting? Overlooking Perranporth beach. Couldn't have been better. |

Subject: RE: What did you listen to last night? From: GUEST,Neil D Date: 08 Oct 07 - 12:37 PM My wife got on this kick where she must have played several dozen versions of the same song, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" by different singers on Youtube. Everything from the obvious (Rufus Wainwright) to the obscure (a bunch of a capela singers in an elvator). The absolute best cover of this song ever was Four Norwegian Guys. Thats how they were billed. A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. |

Subject: RE: What did you listen to last night? From: Dave Sutherland Date: 08 Oct 07 - 02:49 PM That is interesting NeilD as my youngest one is compiling a MySpace or similar devoted all the different versions of that great song. His favourite is Jeff Buckley while mine is by the writer himself. Actually I nearly sang it last night at my clubs singaround but we only got round the room once in three hours. |

This, as you might suspect, is a program of cowboy music. It is webcast live 8a-11a central time, but that's kinda early for me in California. |
Subject: RE: What did you listen to last night? From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 08 Oct 07 - 04:51 PM Did I neglect to say that the live cast is on Saturday mornings? It's on Saturday 8a-11a. Now it's said. |

Subject: RE: What did you listen to last night? From: GUEST,Neil D Date: 09 Oct 07 - 10:05 AM DaveS, I also love the Jeff Buckley version of "Hallelujah". My wife and I had a friendly disagreement over Jeff Buckley vs. Rufus Wainwright going until we found the one by these four Norwegian guys. It's just these four guys sitting around a studio with simple acoustic guitar accompaniment by one of the four, but they all have excellent and unique voices. They each take one verse and sound great but when they combine harmony on the chorus it is divine. |
Subject: RE: What did you listen to last night? From: GUEST,Neil D Date: 09 Oct 07 - 10:08 AM Just to mention in regards to the four Norwegian guys, they do sing the song in English. There was a different recording by some Danish guys in Danish that was actually quite amusing. |
