The Jake Thackray Experience hits Stroud

On September 29th a troupe of singers and self-confessed fans from across the UK will be performing the songs of the late Jake Thackray at The Space in Stroud, paying tribute to his wit, humour and keen observation of humanity.

Jake Thackray was one of our most talented song-writers. Most people remember him as the bloke on Esther Rantzen's 'That's Life' who did the funny songs. Jake's songs are mostly brilliantly funny and timeless, featuring transvestite nuns, drunken revelry, fornication and more. All are touching, endearing and compelling.

Jake died in 2004, but songs such as Sister Josephine, Lah-di-dah, and On again! On again! are as touching and relevant today as they were when first performed.

Relive a time when songs had meaning, at The Space in Stroud on 29th September. Doors open at 7.30pm, and tickets at £8 or £6 for concessions are available from Kane's Records or Stroud Tourist Information Centre (tel. 01453 760900).

As Jake himself would say, 'See what you think'.
