Subject: September 2007 Worlds of Trad Upload
From: Fred McCormick
Date: 13 Sep 07 - 07:28 AM

Just to let people know that the latest (September 2007) edition of Worlds of Trad Internet radio is now uploaded, will be on-line until Wednesday October 10th 12th, and features the very best in traditional folk, ethnic, world, roots, blues, old time country and early jazz; traditional music from absolutely everywhere in fact.

This month I've squeezed in several items to mark the fortieth anniversary of the death of Woody Guthrie, including a rare BBC performance, and there's a couple of old time fiddle conventions. Martin, Bogan and Armstrong, Noble Sissle, Louis Jordan and the Original Dixieland Jazz Band all give us the lowdown on what goes on out in the barnyard; Dave Macon gets a look in; there's a few songs from Northern Ireland; Earl Johnson's Dixie Clodhoppers, Mississippi John Hurt and Bessie Smith tell folks it just ain't none of their business, and there's music from the two most illustrious groups ever to come out of Liverpool – The Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra, that is, and The Liverpool Céilídh Band.

There's the usual cluster of instrumental dance tunes from Britain, Ireland and Cape Breton, as well as loads of exotic sounds from places far and flung.

And when you've soaked all that up, the Memphis Jug Band will be ready to reveal who got it and who started it, and Ma Rainey will be telling you all about her Black Bottom! Now there's a thought.

The full playlist is below and can also be seen at http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog&pop=1&indicate=1 . You will need to log on to that one before you can see the page unfortunately.

To listen to the programme, go to http://www.live365.com/stations/oneworldmusic
, and click on the yellow speaker button. If you need to, follow the onscreen instructions to download the station player. Then press the green play button, wait a moment or two while the ads subside and the station will be on the air.

Don't forget, the music's great, listening is free and I'm always glad to receive requests.

Cheers,

Fred McCormick
