Subject: Van Steeden : 'When shadows fall' From: GUEST,Murray on Saltspring Date: 14 Sep 07 - 01:56 PM A friend is looking for the words and especially the music of a fairly old thing called "Home", by a chap called Van Steeden et al. It begins "Evening marks the close of day"; chorus seems to be "When shadows fall and trees whisper day is ending" - and the end of the verses is "Home". Can the well-informed Mudcatters help? |
Subject: RE: Van Steeden : 'When shadows fall' From: Peace Date: 14 Sep 07 - 02:09 PM Home Lyrics and Music by VanStreeden, Clarkson, Clarkson Recorded by Ruth Etting on Dec. 11, 1931 When shadows fall and trees whisper day is ending, My thoughts are ever wending Home. When crickets call, my heart is forever yearning, Once more to be returning Home. When the hills conceal the setting sun, Stars begin a peeping one by one. Night covers all and, though fortune my forsake me, Sweet dreams will ever take me Home. from www.ruthetting.com/songs/home.asp |
