Subject: Origins: Be Still My Beating Heart From: alanabit Date: 17 Sep 07 - 03:31 PM I am looking for the original of the poem referred to in Les Barker's brillant, "Dachshunds With Erections". In the final stanza, there is a line, "Be still my broken part". I took this as a reference to a poem, "Be Still My Beating Heart". I had thought this was originally a poem by John Donne. As I am unable to find such a poem anywhere, it would appear I was mistaken. Would one of you Mudcat academics please explain to me where I have gone wrong? |
