It's on the Christy Minstrels Today album. I'll do a by-ear transcription in a few minutes. In the meantime, you can find an altered version at Delta Gamma Eta Lambda.
No comment.
-Joe-

Our Song

I'll give you the glow of an evening star
A song of the winds that cry
All of these come in a ship from afar
And the love in a DG's eye.

I'll give you the pink at the rainbow's end
The blue of a summer sky
A bronze shield of faith all these we will send
In the love of a DG's eye.

A golden Anchor standing proud by the sea
Friendships that never grow old
These are the treasurers DG gave me
And they will ne'er be sold.

Soft cream roses that sparkle with dew
Far as your eye can see
This is the kingdom I give to you
For the love you pledge DG.

Wise men will tell you DG's the one
Even a fool knows why
Honor and friendship until your life's done
And the love in a DG's eye.

Come walk by my side and hold my hand
We'll build our castle high
These dreams will come true and you'll understand
The love in your sister's eyes.

Anything Love Can Buy
(Randy Sparks)

I'll buy you the glow of an evening star,
A song of the winds that cry;
Promise you more than all you can dream,
Anything love can buy.

I'll give you the gold at the rainbow's end,
The clouds of a summer sky;
Tell me your wish, and so it shall be,
Anything love can buy.

A silver brook flowing down to the sea,
Daffodils kissed by the sun;
There are the treasures fortune gave me,
Money I have none.

Wise men will tell you love is the game,
Even a fool knows why;
Rich man or poor, he can possess,
Anything love can buy.

Soft green meadows that sparkle with dew
Far as your eyes can see;
This is the kingdom I give to you
For the love you give to me.

Come walk by my side and hold my hand,
We'll build our castles high;
I'll give you the whole wide world on a string,
Anything love can buy.
Anything love can buy.

transcribed by ear from the New Christy Minstrels Today album. I believe the date of the album was 1964.

While you're at it, he also wrote a little ditty which I heard him perform in a nightclub in Fresno - years before he came up with the New Christy Minstrels concept. He performed as a "folk singer - balladeer, mainly on the west coast. An acquaintance of mine "gleaned" the song, modified it with local references and performed it in our local coffee house. One night, Randy came in, quietly sat in the audience and heard John do the song. After the set (and after he stopped laughing) he mentioned something about "copyright" or "intellectual property" and departed. The song was called "Rosie's House of Sin."

This is very coincidental - I just got an e-mail from Randy Sparks yesterday. I had met him a few years before he started the New Christy Minstrels. He is doing a lot of solo work these days, along with a few "reunion" NCM concerts here and there. Still working at 70+.

He wrote "Today" for a comedy western called "Advance to the Rear" back in the 1960's I believe. Art Podell and the late Nick Woods collaborated on some of his material, mostly the arranging, but I think this was all his.

ha! i just saw this post on another folk music chat list:

"Randy Sparks of the old "New Christy Minstrels" owns a tavern
in the bitty town of Mokulumne Hill, Calaveras County, (California)
where he also has lived for years.

On one wall of the bar is a great collection of stringed instruments,
including many with their histories & the famous-in-their-day owners' info. There's a Bass Banjo with a head the size of a small trampoline, harp guitars, and a bunch of other interesting things.

The instruments are seriously Covered with dust and smoky grime;
Randy has refused all offers to clean, restring, and tune up this collection.

Also of note: If you get to the bar yourselves, ask to use the coke machine. Pull on the handle - and voila! You're in a secret side room with private pool table, a small Stage, stageCOACH, mannequins, and lots more memorabilia."
