Beer I agree but that would mean cider would probably be banished too or worse everyone would drink it and they would have foppish varieties and macho varieties and most would taste like beer.

No - keep the beer off the list, please.

I enjoy creating fictional characters with odd personalities. I should have made a living writing comic books or something along that line.

Yeah. ;-) I LOVE Japanese food. I would rather eat the Japanese diet than any other diet on Earth. I think I AM a Japanese, trapped in a westerner's body.

I've been troubled lately by the development of a wee bit of a "belly"! Scary. The only thing I know to do about it is a whole lot of situps, and that seems to be working fairly well. I don't think it's fat, it's lack of muscle tone.

However, if they ever run an Olympic event in farting I might change my mind.

The next Olympics will be in China. That means there will be thousands of spectators who've eaten bok choi for lunch. Farting may not be an officially sanctioned event, but there's gonna be a lot of it going on anyway.

"-All those flyers, coupons and junk mail in my post box."

Put all of these (as many as you can stuff in) in the pre-paid envelopes that come from credit card companies - and just pop them in the post. You get rid of the junk and a few junk peddlers get it instead (and, hopefully, have to pay excess postage).

The entire town of Clarence, Missouri.

Now, it's not that I have anything against Clarence, Missouri. I'm sure it's a lovely place. But, the fact is I've never been there and have no plans of ever going there. It's not even on the way to anyplace I'd be likely to go. Therefore, I don't think I'd miss it if it was gone. In fact, I didn't even know it existed until a few moments ago when I opened a road atlas and picked a small town at random. I'm sure the people who live there would prefer that it not disappear, but that's their problem, not mine.

Coffee Health Risks: For the moderate drinker, coffee is safe says Harvard Women's Health Watch

( Boston , MA ) Despite 20 years of reassuring research, many people still avoid caffeinated coffee because they worry about its health effects. However, current research reveals that in moderation-a few cups a day-coffee is a safe beverage that may even offer some health benefits. The September issue of Harvard Women's Health Watch weighs the pros and cons of this popular beverage and eases the concerns of moderate coffee drinkers.

Caffeine is a psychostimulant which appears to reduce cognitive decline in women and a fresh cup of coffee has more beneficial antioxidents than an orange. Everything in moderation Little Hawk.

Coffee is quite bad for people, and it's highly addictive. It interferes with sleep patterns and does considerable damage to the digestive system over time as well as causing stress.

Just think how popular it would be if they also made it illegal! ;-)

$10 a cup. People would gladly pay. And it would taste EVEN better if it was contraband.

-All those flyers, coupons and junk mail in my post box. No! I don't want your credit cards or updated revamped phone or cable service or your ball point pens with my company name on it and no I don't want to know about your free pizza delivery, we're beyond the free zone. And if you ever really checked what we actually did, you would see that we have absolutely no use for the 1" thick catalogue for heavy equipment and bulldozers.

- Stinging nettles. Stinging nettles and I haven't been getting along at all well this year. They are particularly nasty when you hit them full on, while running in a short nightgown as you concentrate on throwing rocks at deer.

-The GST. I'm behind in my calculations as usual. I wish they would at least pay me for my time invested as their tax collector.

-A new coffee franchise every half block. People on this coast are so over-caffeinated its almost as if they were freebasing meth. I bet you could link the upsurge in aggressive driving and excessive speed directly to the increase in coffee emporiums. Yeah I know, the dark roast is supposed to have less caffeine, but the individual cup size has almost doubled over the past 10 years.

I'm sure I could think of a lot of other stuff, but this is one of my more magnanimous? days.

Yes David Carter you are right about Virgin Trains, GNER (Great Northern Eastern Railways) are just as bad! Toilets normally not working, air con broken, seat booked to three other people, no seats, no food in the buffet, nowhere to put your luggage, although they do normally run on time

Sorry John 'Giok' Mackenzie, but white van drivers are unbelievably rude and mostly very dangerous drivers, they sit 2" from your bumper flashing their lights, when in fact there is nowhere to go, I for one will not be intimidated by there so called road rage and will not be forced to break the speed limit.

I think I am a reasonable driver, I was driving u[p to 1000 miles a week at one time but I VERY rarely get angry in the car, cross with drivers that take stupid risks yes but road rage…not me.

John I am sure you never behaved in such a manner ;-) and I am sure you are one of the rare breed of white van drivers who is not a bad driver, but they are few and far between. Anyway I was talking about these menaces when on the motorways, as for delivery, well yes I can quite believe what you say.

White van man is often given too many deliveries by his greedy employer in the first place. In the second place, he is often trying to deliver to house without a name or a number on the door, or at the end onf a long drive with the name beside the doorway, and unreadable or invisible from the road. Doorbells often don't exist or don't work, householders often say they were in when he called, in spite of his having battered the door as loud as he can. When they say "I was in" what they mean is, they were about, in the garage, in the garden, in the loo, in the shower, etc etc.
Then when you do find them in there is the pantomime of not signing until they've opened it, to check if it's intact.
It's OK sir/madam just endorse the signature unexamined.
No I need to check.
OK I'll wait.
"This is not what I ordered, take it back"
I can't.
Why not?
Because it says TNT on the van outside, and your parcel came from Harrod's.
You collected it surely you can take it back?
Madam, this is Inverness and Harrod's is in Knightsbridge, I didn't go down there and collect it myself so I could deliver it to your door for the princely sum of £3.50 per parcel!

I've been there and done that, and it is a very frustrating job, so try and look at it from the other side please.

Giok

I take it "Virgin trains" are trains operated by the same company that owns Virgin Airlines.

But what aare "white van drivers". I drive a white GMC van when I'm hauling my pottery to art fairs to sell. Does that make me a white van driver and, therefore, worthy of disdain? If so, should I paint my van some other color? Buy a few dozen cans of variously colored spray paints and invite people over for a van painting party?
