Subject: From: ekoblenz1@aol.com Date: 24 Apr 99 - 07:44 PM Can anyone tell me where I can find the complete and correct words to a song that contains (roughly) the following verse: "When der Fuhrer says we is the master race, We [phhhhtt] [phhhtt] right in der fuhrer's face. Not to [phhhhtt] our Fuhrer is a great disgrace; So [phhttt] [phhttt] right in der Fuhrer's face." Ja, he is the Superman? Super Duper Superman!! He promotes disorder..." I believe that Spike Milligan of the Goon Show wrote the lyrics, and that he occupied the top of Hitler's hit list should the invasion succeed...The tune might be the 'Horst Wessel,' but I'm not sure about this. All help gratefully accepted. |

Subject: RE: Spike Milligan Song About Hitler From: dick greenhaus Date: 24 Apr 99 - 10:06 PM Actually, Der Fuhrer's Face was originally in a Walt Disney WWII propaganda film called Donald Duck in Nutzi(sic) Land. I don't recall who performed it in the movie. |

Subject: RE: Spike Milligan Song About Hitler From: Mike Billo Date: 25 Apr 99 - 11:03 AM According to "Spike Jones and his City Slickers' by Jordan Young (a must read) the song was composed by the British songwriter Oliver Wallace (who wrote the score for "Dumbo"). Disney studios put it in their cartoon "Donald Duck in Axis Land", but before the cartoon was released, Wallace gave his friend Spike Jones permission to record it. Therefore, Spike's version come out first. It was also recorded by Johnnie Bonds and Arthur Fields. |
