Subject: Lyr Req: Song by Steeleye Span. From: GUEST,Vulpes Fish Date: 30 Sep 07 - 10:18 AM Hello! :) I am looking for a song performed by Steeleye Span. Apparently it was on one of their albums, but after much searching I have not been able to locate it. I wonder if anyone here who may have heard of it could provide its title, the lyrics or generally any further information? These rather fragmentary lines is what I know of it so far: I think it begins: "I was found last night standing at the window staring out at the driving rain, In the darkness I was told I must be getting old(?)" And the chorus contains the words: "Hold me, that's the only truth I can be sure of; Love me, save this weary soul tonight from sorrow The bells may not be ringing out tomorrow." Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, though I apologise for giving so little to go on! :) It is a song someone in my family is looking for and they believe it was probably released by Steeleye Span sometime in the later '70s. Thanks very much for reading! :) |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Song by Steeleye Span. From: Severn Date: 30 Sep 07 - 12:47 PM VF, you're looking in the wrong place and for the wrong band and female singer. The song you are looking for is called "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" and is performed by the Albion Band with Cathy LeSurf on vocals on their CD "Under The Rose". The song was written by Ashley Hutchings and Dave Whetstone and was published by Albino Music. You can try Googling either Ashley hutchings or Albion Band for any further info, hopefully. Good Luck. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tomorrow & Tomorrow & ... (Albion Band) From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 13 Apr 25 - 04:45 AM How does thw song, or specifically it' title allude to a famous line from Macbeth: “Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day, to the last syllable of recorded time.” |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tomorrow & Tomorrow & ... (Albion Band) From: Reinhard Date: 13 Apr 25 - 06:57 AM Ashley Hutchins said in "A Word in Your Ear": It must be clear that the famous soliloquy from MacBeth provided at least the title of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. but the pipe-dreams of Hickey and his drinking cronies in Eugene O’Neill's play The Iceman Cometh were an equal important influence. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Tomorrow & Tomorrow & ... (Albion Band) From: Reinhard Date: 13 Apr 25 - 12:20 PM TOMORROW AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW Ashley Hutchings, Dave Whetstone I was found last night standing by the window Staring out at the driving rain. In the dark I was told O I must be getting old, The spring is so cold. Only yesterday it seemed that summer never ceased, Now there’s snow in May and April. I was found last night gazing at the bookcase, Countless words from the wisest minds. And they’ve shown me the light, And they’ve shown me what to fight, They can’t help me tonight. There’s a tale of sound and fury ringing in my ears And the story’s never ending. Hold me - That’s the only truth I can be sure of, There’s nothing left to hope for, only your love. Love me - Save this weary soul tonight from sorrow, The bell may not be ringing out tomorrow. And I learned last night to forget about contentment, Barely hoping I‘ve come to rest. I must have been blind For the grail is in the mind, About to seek and not to find. So pass the bottle, pass the pills, God is sleeping sound and I need some consolation. Hold me - That’s the only truth I can be sure of, There’s nothing left to hope for, only your love. Love me - Save this weary soul tonight from sorrow, The bell may not be ringing out tomorrow. And I learned last night to live just for the moment, All those pipe dreams are blown away. O but when I get straight Everything will turn out fine, It will all fall into place, For the one reality is that time goes tramping on While this candle’s slowly fading. Hold me - That’s the only truth I can be sure of, There’s nothing left to hope for, only your love. Love me - Save this weary soul tonight from sorrow, The bell may not be ringing out tomorrow. |
