Subject: Cooper & Nelson house concert, Scotia, N From: Phil Cooper Date: 01 Oct 07 - 03:33 PM Hi, My singing partner of the past 25 years, Margaret Nelson, and I are playing a house concert in Scotia, New York on Friday, Oct. 12. This is our first trip out east in quite awhile. We are Chicago based and perform traditionally oriented songs and tunes. We're heading out to playing the Branford Folk Music Society on Saturday the 13th and picked up this house concert in the Capitol district on the way. It will be at the home of Melinda & Dan Perrin. For info call 518-377-9197 or email folkiedan@msn.com. Yes, I have permission to post this information, by the way. Melinda and Dan used to run the Acoustic Renaissance Concert series back in the Chicago area, before they moved to New York. Margaret and I are looking forward to seeing them again and hope any mudcatters in the area that are free that evening can come and see us. If you want more information about us you can look at www.coopernelsonearly.com Thanks much. --Phil Cooper |

Subject: RE: Cooper & Nelson house concert, Scotia NY From: Art Thieme Date: 02 Oct 07 - 07:17 PM Folks, go hear these 2 friends of ours. Margaret is a wonderful singer and Phil's guitar technique is uniquely singular and perfect for the mostly traditional repertory of great ballads and songs that they usually choose to showcase. If you enjoy Nic Jones or John Renbourn, go hear Phil.---But watch his hands too. You'll learn from the lyrics -- the auditory experience, and you will see musical taste (i.e. chops) personified and demonstrated by the man. We're sorry we won't be there in New York with you. Subject: RE: Cooper & Nelson house concert, Scotia NY From: Phil Cooper Date: 02 Oct 07 - 07:41 PM We're still striving to put across a song as well as you do, Art. I still think your rendition of "Death of Robin Hood" is an example of it doesn't get any better than that. |

Subject: RE: Cooper & Nelson house concert, Scotia NY From: Mooh Date: 02 Oct 07 - 09:07 PM Wish I could be there. I love the way you set up a song, quick, brief, informative, often funny. I take it your hip is better, Phil. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: Cooper & Nelson house concert, Scotia NY From: Phil Cooper Date: 02 Oct 07 - 10:35 PM Yes, Mooh. Though this is the first long distance trip I'm trying to take with the new titanium part. As long as we stop frequently, so I can stretch things out, we should do OK. I've got another Dr's appt tomorrow to find out how things are healing up. I was definitely not in shape for a long trip when the Festival was happening in Goderich. I was glad that Kate offered to drive me up with her, but I would have been hobbling around with a cane and not doing very well at that point. Still have to meet the new pup. |
