Subject: Obit: Ronnie Hazlehurst From: Emma B Date: 02 Oct 07 - 09:10 AM c.1928 – 1 October 2007 an English composer and jazz musician; after joining the BBC in 1961, he was the BBC's Light Entertainment Musical Director. During the 1960s and 70s, Hazlehurst composed or arranged the theme tunes to most of the BBC's light entertainment shows, including such hits as The Two Ronnies, Yes, Minister, Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em and Are You Being Served? He was also the musical director of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, 1977 and 1982........ but, no one's perfect |

Last of the Summer Wine is an excellent example. He also had the ability to write music that complemented the action in a very discrete way. These are not inconsiderable abilities IMO. Geoff |
