Subject: RE: Tune Req: innisheer From: Peace Date: 15 Oct 07 - 09:55 AM Page you may wish to see. It's a bit dated. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: innisheer From: GUEST,stevethesqueeze Date: 15 Oct 07 - 01:09 PM I now know the "real" name of the tune is Innis Oirr as there is an album available, The Plassey on the Rocks from Naxos records by Thomas Walsh. The album is unavailable so i dont know if the man is contempoaray or what. I have a manuscript copy of the tune with a second harmony part with t. walsh's name on it. I dont know whether he wrote the tune, arranged it, or wrote a song to the tune. I want to record it on an album and don't want to upset thomas if he's around! stevethesqueeze |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: innisheer From: Declan Date: 15 Oct 07 - 02:00 PM I don't have a lot of information on Thomas Walsh except I've been told he was/is a guitarist from Dublin. I know I guy called Tom Walsh who plays guitar but it is not (as far as I know) the same guy. I'm fairly sure he wrote the tune without words. Some sets of words have been added since but not by him. So I think he is the composer of the tune. I don't have any huge evidence for any of this information, although I'm fairly sure its accurate. PRS (or its Irish sister organisation IMRO) should be able to advise you on this. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: innisheer From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 15 Oct 07 - 02:16 PM Discussed in many past threads here; a simple search will find them all, though the title is spelled by some folk in quite odd ways. The composer's identity is not in doubt, and various people have been in contact with him and/or his publishers. You might start with thread inisheer (2001, revived in 2006). |
