hi all and Dick

we do all need to get behind this if we want it to go on, i have just recived a promising letter from a member of the cultural services department, and we will not let this festival fall by the wayside with out a fight. so come on if you value your heatage and want a really family fun weekend in easter next year, get those emails and letters and phone calls going in to all the Lancaster city councillors you can find.

we are not finnished yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lancaster. or phil.fleming@lancaster.newsquest.co
.
suggest key points to be made are :
-the great loyalty of following that the fest has and that people want to
come to lancaster ( and glasson ) next easter again,to spend money here!
- make the point that it must bring in many any times the income to the
area, above the cost of staging stage it
- the national (international) reputation it has, having put lancaster on
the map.
- personal stories of why it is so special to those who attend and why they
want to keep coming to our district.
Here is another contact that I inadvertenly omitted from my previous post.Dick Miles

I have mixed opinions about whether it was a good idea to move to Glasson dock. I know that there was no option at the time, but although some new attendees were there because of the change of venue there were also some missing for the same reason. I could only get there for part of one day whereas if it was still in Lancaster I could have been around for more.
It's very difficult to decide what effect the move had, even if you have the exact attendance figures.

I hear that following the recent sad news that the festival would not take place during 2008.......the good news is that it will.
I have no further information yet.

If that is the case it is very sad,as I am sure a number of people would have been willing to organise it,if they were aware that the previous organisers were not allowed /or did not want to organise it.Dick Miles

Our local free newspaper states that it won't be happening because nobody has applied for the grant to organise it and the deadline has passed. Anyone know more details or can refute this?
