Catch them they are amazing -they have been to Cottingham and we loved them - totally different from anything else you will have seen -we have booked them for next year and suggest everyone does the same!

Hi All mudcatters

We will be appearing at the Musicport World Music Festival, Whitby on Sunday 21st October at 10.30PM on the Pavilion Acoustic Cafe Stage (in the Pavilion entrance)

Who are THE HUT PEOPLE???? ( www.myspace.com/thehutpeople )

The Hut People are a Piano Accordion and Percussion duo that comprise of :

Sam Pirt (accordion & Feet)
who plays with 422 that won the BBC Radio 2 Young folk awards a few years back. Sam is a very experienced musician who is well established in the folk world. He is also the founder of Ethno England in 2003
Gary Hammond (Percussion)
who for the past 12 years has recorded and toured with The Beautiful South. He has worked with Nina Simone and many other groups and set ups within the world music and jazz/pop world.
They both have a love of Scandinavian, English, European folk music and a love for Rhythm which comes together with an accordion/multi percussion twist.

Though it sounds an unlikely combination the Piano Accordion and various percussion instruments (Udu, Timba, Cajon, Berimbau, Surdu + more) seem to slide together into an eclectic mix of music and rhythms.
