March 21/22/23 Good Friday, Sat, Easter Sunday

No longer at the Shaw Inn, now at The Keel Inn

The Shaw continues as the fc venue every Monday

The Keel has secure Carparking for around 20 Campers of average size and a fence and lockable gate Friday/Sat/Sunday nights

It is on A61 Wakefield rd, 5 minutes walk from town centre bus and rail, has some other non secure areas too

It is next to the ASDA and is also a motel for up to 32 persons I believe £30 for a twin room contact me initially please

No camping for tents as no security

Has Friday pm by arrangement in the pub (usual opening time 5pm)

Sat pm two areas one for musicians and guitar etc players and singaround separate area until 5/6pm

Separate Sat evening concert room for singers

Sunday pm until 5pm with a special guest yet to be decided! official end, but secure Car park still available until Monday

Hope to see some of you following what was a great w/ed marred by thieves and idiots at The YM

I have no plans to use the YM again

Hi Ray. Any details on the motel would be appreciated - showers, double rooms, cost,(do we book it direct or through you?)? Helen thinks March is too early for the campervan, so we could be customers for 3 nights!

OK

The Campervan situation should not be a problem as no cost and lockable gate/fence by arrangement

The Booking of the motel accommodation will need
which nights needed ~

March 21/22/23 is Good Friday/Sat/Easter Sunday

your phone number and address and please note that the rooms are twin beds at £30 per night (£15 each, I believe

All this please PM or email me if you know my email address [I dont think I am permitted to put my email address!] or phone me

the motel will then contact you to confirm all arrangements!!

Note ASDA is closed Easter Sunday so breakfasts may be a problem

I have suggested that Saturday pm may have some folk music/ song "spots" of say 15 minutes per act

Comperes for Friday/Sat pm singarounds and evening are needed, so volunteers please? 2 hours is enough!

Ray

Many thanks Maggie and Les I have printed off your details and those from Theresa who probably needs a mate for a twin room but I will check this out.

I will be seeing Dave Bottomley on Friday, the Keel is his drinking spot from 6.30pm on Fridays

DB says he may be going to Hull sometime soon also

Thanks to Carol and Maggie and Les for offers re compering, still room for all

Should be good!!

Thanks
Ray

No problem, breakfasts on Easter Sunday will be a problem I fear, but many camper vans will have cookers etc and alfresco if the weather is good seems good with a bottle of wine Easter Egg followed by Lynne and Pat

Well Hazel there are some personal reasons that may prohibit this, this year, which we are fully aware of!

Saturday morning will have more than ample choice including ASDA and anywhere in Barnsley! If breakfast on Sunday am is problematic I think the afternoon at the Keel will be doing meals of some description, as they will during Saturday afternoon by arrangement

I think this is one to sort when we get there, but I will check Sunday meal times at the Keel asap

Sadly it doesn't look as if I'm going to make it. I have a very severe dose of that horrible tummy bug that's going round, I feel as weak as a kitten and am not fit to drive anywhere.
Best regards to all my friends, I really was looking forward to seeing you all.

Hazel

If anyone is still looking for a good weekend of singing and general tomfoolery - I can highly recommend this event.

What a great crowd of participants...lovely music session and a good idea to have prebooked spots as well as a singaround. A great formula!!I hope you all had a good time on Sunday as well. I'm looking forward to next year!!!!!

It's snowing here at the moment - great big, thick, white flakes.

Yes the Keel which has the secure car park and was well used is a big plus

I would like to use the venue more with assistance!

The night would have to be Friday as preferred by the Land Lord Saturday tends to get busy with football fans!

Hopefully next Easter will take place at the Keel and I am very grateful to all who compered!

Peter Taylor, Dave Kidman, Les and Maggie, Judie Knight and also to the musicians and singers who did "spots"

It was a matter of a quart into a pint pot time wise, but the singaround format on Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday until 5.30pm gave further time!

Thanks to all who helped in the raffle, Neville, Michelle, Sue and Molly, Linda and the 99p and £1 items etc donated

Thanks again to everyone including Lynne and Pat and Steve and Maggie and Carole and Andrew ~ well everyone!!

Maggie and I were lovely and warm in our centrally-heated motel room! But Easter was unusually this year. We had a great time and would have liked to stay for more, but you can't be everywhere and we wanted to be with Pistachio at her 50th birthday bash.

Thanks very much to Ray and others who help organise and also to the staff at the Keel. A great venue and some great music.
