Subject: The Songwainers From: Emily Stephenson Date: 30 Oct 07 - 07:26 PM Hi there, I am new to the site (I can't believe I haven't come across it before!). I notice in some of the older threads that there were several requests for lyrics from The Songwainers. This is just to say that I have all the original broadsheets if people were still after lyrics. My dad (Dave Stephenson) was an avid collector of, well, pretty much everything so I have all their programs and newspaper articles as well! If anyone has any questions/lyrics requests please feel free to ask or email me :) -Emily Stephenson |

Subject: RE: The Songwainers From: GUEST,martin ellison Date: 30 Oct 07 - 07:46 PM Hi Emily I knew your dad and absolutely loved the Songwainers. One of my memories of Dave was when he MCd a sort of music hall concert in Sidmouth, probably in the 70s - wicked sense of humour. I also know Ken and Tom - in fact I was in a session with both of them just a couple of months ago. I don't have any requests for lyrics or anything, just popped in to say hello and ask (based on an assumption) if you're involved with the folk scene (don't you just hate that phrase)? Nice to hear from you. Martin Ellison |

Subject: RE: The Songwainers From: GUEST,martin ellison Date: 30 Oct 07 - 08:04 PM Hello again I've just found your other post about the Songwainers and, yes, I remember the the line-up which included Mike Gabriel. I stopped with Mike and Jacqui a couple of times when visting Cheltenham. Ken remains, for me, one of the few people who can raise the hairs on the back of my neck when he sings. The Songwainers had the same effect. Martin |
