For all South Yorks folkies who like to hear good songs well sung and get their gobs around a chorus or two, we've got the brilliant three-part harmony group Pegleg Ferret at Kiveton Park FC next Tuesday, 6th November. Keith, Geoff and Benny will deliver a memorable evening of songs from the North-East spiced with their inimitable wit and humour. For harmony at it's best, woven with talent and sensitivity, into a backdrop of traditional and contemporary comment on working class life, these lads are hard to beat! It'll be a grand do, no doubt. Friendly crowd, cheap bar, free tea and coffee for the abstainers and free grub in the break. Can't say fairer than that! Kick off 8.30 (ish), admission £4 on the door, all welcome.

Regards
Andy

Are they STILL going? Not heard of them since I saw them at Marske in 1979.
Have a good night.

Yes Irene. The lads are still Ferreting. They broke up a few years ago to pursue different things and got back together in 2003 (I think). They are better than ever, and thanks, we WILL have a good night.

Regards
Andy

Saw them last time at Kiveton Folk Club about 2 years ago. It was a fantastic night and should be the same on Tuesday. I would recommend any afficionado of unaccompanied harmony to have a dose of the Ferrets.Very humorous too. See you there Andy.

George

Does anyone know any songs about ferrets? Such as - I knew a ferret and his name was Jack, A ferreting I will go, Keep your hand on your ferret.

There are a lot of songs about fantastical animals, e.g. The Derby Ram, T'owd yowe with one horn, The fabulous Christmas Goose, The enormous sucking pig, etc., but I don't recall one about a huge ferret.

Would a song about a disabled ferret be deemed politically incorrect if it made fun of the ferret?

Sorry about that, pissed last night!
However, In response to Rank's post, I recall a song from the 60's called 'Ferret across the Mersey' by Jerry and the Pacemakers.

Will.

Yes folks it's tonight.
Pavarotti is gone, so the Three Tenors are no more. However the Three Ferrets (AKA Pegleg Ferret) will strut their stuff at Kiveton Park Folk Club tonight. All welcome. Don't miss.

Regards
Andy
