Subject: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Big Mick Date: 28 Apr 99 - 10:51 PM So will some one tell me how I can get Rick's radio show? Obviously if Kat is listening it is available on the Net. Rick, time and site please. I would love to listen in. Mick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Tony Burns Date: 28 Apr 99 - 11:08 PM Rick's show (and a fine one it is) is on CIUT which has a live RealAudio feed. Look here for more. The show is on Monday nights 9:00 to 10:00 in the eastern time zone. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 28 Apr 99 - 11:11 PM Yah, Mick, we're on the net now, so I've had to clean up my act. No swearing, mention the station call letters every 20 minutes or so, don't go ummmm, ummmm as much. Try not to make too many Catspaw type jokes. The show airs at 9pm to 10pm. (Toronto time) on CIUT (89.5 fm) and I'll get the URL (see Joe I'm trying) for you in a bit. Just as easy though to type CIUT into your search engine. Last week was a seriously lefty show with guest Barry Weisledder talking about May Day celebrations, but the big surprise was when Mudcatter Katlaughing phoned in from Wyoming and talked on air about some alternative May Day cultural activities. We certainly welcome calls during the show. 416-595-5063. The station is too cheap to pay for them, but even an overseas call only costs 3 or 4 bucks at that time..hint hint. I'm still negotiating with this Monday's guest, (not money, but availability) one of my favourite musicians. Rick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Big Mick Date: 28 Apr 99 - 11:19 PM Count on it Rick. I am not sure about this week, but if schedule permits I will call. And I intend to make it a part of my favorites and listen regularly, so you better be on your best behaviour. hahahahahahahahaha Mick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Sandy Paton Date: 28 Apr 99 - 11:33 PM I've bookmarked it, too, Rick. Why didn't you tell us about it long before this? I'd love to have heard our Katlaughing pitching alternative May Day rituals! Now I have a way to tear Caroline away from CNN and CNBC! She'd give up Geraldo to hear Fielding. (Maybe not Grodin, but they don't conflict.) Sandy |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 29 Apr 99 - 12:16 AM here ya go: click here It sure was fun and I'd do it agin, if'n he wants me to. we could edjicate phoaks on what tunes them jackalopes likes to be herd by. And, yawl could here the laugh that made 'er famous! Rick really does a great job, as does his lovely engineer, Heather. But, whatevah you due, DON'T ask him about his microwave! *BG* Speaking of Catspaw jokes, has anyone heard from him, yet? Monday was the last I knew. Hello, 'Spaw, we miss you. Take care. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 29 Apr 99 - 04:04 PM Thanks Kat for the wee blue thing.
Monday night's guest will be Grit Laskin, and we'll play some songs, talk about Grit's work as a guitar builder, (most of his luthier peers seem to feel he is the finest around) tell really silly jokes and welcome calls from anyone who'd like to phone 416 595 5063.
Sandy, sorry for not mentioning that we're on the net. I'm still just as hesitant as you when it comes to self-promotion. But thanks Mick, for puttin' this up. rick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Tony Burns Date: 03 May 99 - 05:01 PM Just refreshing this to remind folks that Rick's show is on this evening at 9:00pm Toronto (Eastern) time. A couple of the messages near the top have blue clickies. Oh, what the heck here's a blue clickie right here. btw - the show before Rick is a pretty good blues hour. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 03 May 99 - 07:16 PM And, I understand before the blues there is a good Native American show. This is a great show phoaks. Check it out! |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 03 May 99 - 08:50 PM I'm trying, but I cannot get connected. I have Real Player Plus G2. I get a message "Connection to Server has Timer Out". Shouldn't be my ISP because I can get other Real Player sites to work. Any suggestions? It is almost time! Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 03 May 99 - 09:06 PM same here, Roger. I am about to call them and see if Heather knows what to do. I'll be back. kat |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 03 May 99 - 09:13 PM Just talked to some guy there who seemed to know what he was talking about. Said to try www.ciut.utoronto.ca, which I did with the same result. He said it their feed or server thingy or something was "going bad" that may cause this and/or congestion ont he net. But I told him some of us were able to get onto other sites easily; I have no prob. gettin into AIROS tonight. He said thanks for the notice, so maybe he'll be able to do something? I plan to keep checking on it until 8pmMDT-US when I trun into a chair spud and watch BBC-America. Drat! kat! |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Big Mick Date: 03 May 99 - 09:24 PM I have been trying with the same result.
|
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Tony Burns Date: 03 May 99 - 10:05 PM Looks like a loss for tonight. I'll try to remember to refresh the thread again next week if no one less does. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Sandy Paton Date: 04 May 99 - 12:52 AM Darn it! I forgot it was Monday night, but it seems we would have missed the show, as all of you did, even if we'd remembered to go to it. Too bad, too, because Rick probably did a fine tribute to Pete for his birthday and I would have enjoyed hearing that. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Banjer Date: 04 May 99 - 06:54 AM Also here, problems with connecting. My Real Player tried several connections but none worked. Hopefully next week! |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 04 May 99 - 09:08 AM Damn, damn, damn this whole computer thing! We had a really fun show. Grit Laskin, my favourite all-around luthier-author-songwriter-Northumbrian small pipes player-stand up comedian, and all around nice-guy was in rare form last night, and we so wanted the show to get out to you folks, but I guess the gremlins' showed up! We did tape it though. I was hoping to get it to Catspaw til Heather said that the jokes were SO bad that he might have a relapse. Guess she's not familiar enough with what he thinks is funny. We'll try again next week. Wish I had Joe Offer at the station to kick butt with those invisible cyber-saboteurs.
Was in the studio all day (and will be today) so I haven't had my "mudcat fix"
see ya "cats" Rick |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Peter T. Date: 04 May 99 - 09:21 AM Also, Mr. Modesty himself did a fine, fine version of an old fave: "When I'm Gone" (Phil Ochs). Yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Mike Billo Date: 04 May 99 - 10:23 AM My server(earthlink)did what they could and finally said they were positive the problem was on ciut's end. I guess we'll all try again next week. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Charlie Baum Date: 04 May 99 - 11:51 AM Rick-- If you taped the show, perhaps it would be possible to mount an archived version of it on the web server, so we can listen to it at times other than Monday evenings. You'll have to consult with the resident web gurus of CIUT's server to do this, but it is, at least theoretically, possible. (I listen to the WKSU folk programs from the weekend evenings during the weekday at work, thanks to real audio archives.) --Charlie Baum |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Sandy Paton Date: 04 May 99 - 02:20 PM Shucks, Rick, I'd settle for an old-fashioned tape and avoid the techno-hassles. Good luck in the studio. That new CD will sure be welcomed here! Sandy |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 04 May 99 - 11:08 PM We're taping every show now, and I'm asking questions of those who know about this sort of thing how to use the tapes in a useful way. Spent the last two days in the studio and it looks like the album is coming together. Paul Mills' studio is much like Folk-Legacy's in a lot of ways. Sometimes we would lose a "take" at Caroline and Sandy's when a squirrel (or something larger) decided to cross their roof, Here, we got interrupted by the Jehova's Witnesses. I was all for asking them in to sing a chorus or two. I was reminded that Paul's late friend Stan Rogers would have been far less charitable. Sandy, I'll bet Gordon Bok would have sent them packing quickly as well. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Roger the zimmer Date: 05 May 99 - 12:23 PM Rick, nothing to do with the gist of this thread but you might be amused by this: my 80+ year old father who lives alone & doesn't get many visitors has taken to inviting the Jehovah's Witnesses in & giving them a cup of tea- he admits they can't get a word in edgeways as he no doubt gets on to his 3 favourite topics: his boring(-to me,but then I've heard them over and over for 50 years!)wartime RAF experiences; the state of English cricket and the state of English football- his policy for improvement being to shoot the players one by one to encourage the others to do better! I'd love to be a fly on the wall- as he's got quite deaf he probably can't hear what they are trying to say! So next time ask 'em in to provide chorus on a raunchy toon & watch 'em run! |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 10 May 99 - 01:01 PM It's up and running, today, phoaks! Give it try tonight! Well worht the listen. Who've you got on tonight, Rick? katlaughing |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 10 May 99 - 05:06 PM Thanks Kat. Ok. Tonight's show will be "BLUEGRASS!" No left wing politics, no alternative religions, and maybe (we're workin' on it) the world premiere of a song I wrote and recorded on the new album last week called "Catspaw's Rag". Sheesh! I hardly even know the guy, and he's got his own song! This Mudcat sure is a strange place. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 10 May 99 - 05:26 PM WUNNERFULL, WUNNERFULL!Can't wait to hear it.kat |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: John Hindsill Date: 11 May 99 - 12:05 AM Heard Rick tonite loud and clear in southern California. Will try to make it a habit of a Monday evening.--John |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 11 May 99 - 12:59 AM Glad it got through. I tried real hard to get "Catspaw's Rag" on (it's an instrumental with twin banjos) but it's not mixed yet, so I'll give it a shot next week. Thanks Tina, for the nice words about the concert (also Tony and Michael) The Tranzak is a great place to play and I had a lot of fun. |

Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: katlaughing Date: 17 May 99 - 09:58 PM Good Job, Heather! Now, if Rick would just fix that darn cd player!**grin** I had a phone call just as you started talking about 'Spaw. Sorry I didn't get to hear it. Talk to you later! katlaughing |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: bbc Date: 17 May 99 - 10:09 PM Good to hear you, Heather! And yes, Rick, just to keep from disappointing you, she *did* play Freddy Mercury! best to both, bbc |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Banjer Date: 17 May 99 - 10:10 PM Heather mentioned that Rick spent time on the Mudcat and then explained about how "one of the regulars" was having some sever health problems and dedicated the next play to Catspaw. It was a good show, good mix of music. Heard some stuff I hadn't heard before and some old time favorites. Even heard Mr. Bill Monroe do a number. Good show Heather. I'll try to make a habit of Monday night listening. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Rick Fielding Date: 18 May 99 - 12:23 AM Heather Fielding here.(I can't wear my duckboots on the radio) Whoooooo! Am I ever glad that's over. When you make your debut, and you find out within two minutes that the CD player is broken....well I think Charles Stuart was less scared at Culloden than I was at that board. Thank you so much for the kind words, but I'll get better - if Rick ever gets another gig on a Monday! Heather |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Sep 99 - 04:14 AM Did I see somebody mention listening to an archive of Rick's show? If there's an archive, how do I get to it? -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: catspaw49 Date: 02 Sep 99 - 07:18 AM HOLY POSSUMS!!! I'm overwhelmed with happiness here.........Father Joebro has undoubtedly got it by now, but I'm so humbled to know something he doesn't...or at least find it first!!! Father Joebro, the show can be found on the "Mudcat Radio" site. There is currently only one show (August 23) but Rick told me others are being made available soon. While I got you here, can you give me absolution for sinning against the Great Green Clicky Mohunkers on the "Moose Turd Pie" thread? I may have screwed up Max's broadcast and would like to make amends. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Jeri Date: 24 Sep 99 - 08:35 AM CIUT is back on Real Audio. I found out around Tue, and it's been up everytime I checked since then - sounds good, too. Here's a direct link to the broadcast. |
Subject: RE: Rick Fielding's Radio Show From: Tony Burns Date: 24 Sep 99 - 08:39 AM Yahoo! It must be time to refresh the MudChat thread to see how it's coming along and if we can use it during Rick's broadcasts like in the olden days. |
