Thoroughly enjoyed the w/e - as did m' fiddler-Anne.
Hearty congrats to Marje and all concerned with the organisation
- to all the 'volunteers'
- and especially to the punters for turning out to make such a great atmosphere
(and paying for up to make the fest some much-needed cash).
Bless 'em all. - Duncan McFarlane (HipflaskAndy)

Hear Hear - jolly good it was too! Great line-up & a goodly portion of the Alcester Wall of Sound (TM) seems to have come too. Was also great to hear Dave actually perform at an Alcesterfest.
Can only echo what ref said - & have to add Kudos (as the kids say) to Moses & him for a truly festival-standard suicide shift this morning.
Now off to bathe tonsils in Scotch Linament, as I seem to have a bit of a crackle in the throat :D

It was indeed!

Just got home. Crackin' weekend. Caught up with some old freinds, made many new ones.

Lovely venue, faultless organisation, good on-site grub, cheap beer (against London prices anyway!)

Super concerts, (we really enjoyed ours ;o)), brilliant sound; I know everyone says that at the time, but it really was, thanks Laurence, and real quality at the sing-arounds.

Well done Dave and Marge!

I'm sure it was - all power to Marje and Dave and all their efforts.
So very sorry I couldn't be there myself, but I wasn't able to come down just on spec in the end (having not been "engaged" as a willing volunteer!). I'll catch up with you next week, Ref!

Packing now. Picking Moses up at 8am tomorrow.

We'we got Saturday to ourselves, then opening Sunday's concert at 11:45 and running a sing-around at 2pm.

Should be fun!

Greetings,

The Holly Bush in no way supports the festival despite promises made over the last few years not a penny has been forthcoming. They had adverts that they didnt pay for and promised us sponsorship that we never received.

While I in no way wish to spoil your enjoyment bear this in mind, we wouldnt need to run this extra event if we were getting more support from businesses in Alcester.

If anyone has any idea how we can get sponsorship or just plain cash from anywhere we would like to hear from you.

GM

It looks like we are starting the festival off this weekend( 12.15 Greig hall). Hope you manage to park up easily and come and see us. Let's hope we raise lots of funds for the summer festival. We want to keep it going!

Hi All,
Apparently the Greig Centre is in normal use on Friday evening and the centre and car park will be very busy. This is why there is no Friday programme and people are being asked to arrive on Saturday from 10am when they will be help to park up fairly tightly so everyone can get in. If this makes things difficult for anyone then I suggest you contact Marje Stanley - her email was not working yesterday, so I suggest you phone her on 07788536605.

There's a question I hadn't though of: Are we all turning up in our caravans during the day on the Friday? Is it OK to do so? And if so, what's everyone planning on doing during the evening? Must admit I hadn't realised that the Friday evening wasn't programmed!

Alcester is always worth supporting as it is one of the affordable Festivals,Family friendly, kids are free and tickets are cheap.
In my view it is what Folk music is about inclusive.
Dave and his gallant crew do a great job.
There is a good line up and we are all doing it for free to help make sure that this Festival stays alive and kicking.
So, come on me ducks(this a term of friendship and nothing to do with wet weather) and get behind this fundraiser

You're right Anne, we weren't at all happy about missing Reunion, but felt that supporting Alcester was the right thing to do this year after the all the weather problems last year. We had to think long & hard, it's such a difficult clash. Please pass Hugs to all the Middle Bar Singers for me!!

We played as a family at this festival last year.It was a lovely experience. Stuart and I would be delighted to perform at the weekend if that will help. Kathryn has a german exchange trip at some stage ,and we don't have a date yet,but we know it is round about then.If the girls are free I'm sure they would love to help too.

Sadly I'm afraid we won't get along due to dates clashing, though I would encourage anyone who can to go along and support this event. Alcester is a wonderful festival which we really can't afford to lose!
