At the New Inn Cropton, North Yorks weekend of 24th/25th november. The following from the Barnsley Camra website

"Cropton Brewery
Beer Festival
Cropton Brewery is holding it's 13th Annual Beer Festival at The New Inn, Cropton on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th November 2007.
With over 70 beers and real ales from all over the country and some continentals, it should provide the 'discerning' drinker with everything from the possibly weird to the absolutely wonderful.

The variety of music should be just as varied with over a dozen acts performing everything from Blues, Skittle, Irish, Folk and Rock alongside more modern classics with acoustics sets in the bars and the bands in the heated marquee.

With late licences applied for Friday and Saturday and an open jamming session organised for the Sunday, there must be surely something here for everyone.

Although some limited camping facilities are available, a pick up and drop off service is running to and from Pickering on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Entrance fee is only £4.00 including souvenir glass and free pint {£3.00 CAMRA members} and we are hoping to make this to be the best beer festival yet!"

I'll be there myself for the weekend

R

This sounds fantastic. I just love Cropton and the New Inn. Might try to drag the wife and the caravan up for the weekend or at least pop up on Sunday.

No I don't know - but Cropton Brewery/New Inn do have a website which may have more information. However, It wasn't very up-to-date when I last looked.

OK, I've done a bit of research and so far have found the following booked artists:

Railroad Bill (skiffle group) www.skiffle.co.uk

3 foot ninja - young punkish band, see myspace pages

The Dangleberries - acoustic duo playing wide variety of material, see myspace pages

Lee Madison - female but I can't find out what kind of stuff she does, see myspace pages

Hope that helps

Of course, there is a singaround thing on the Sunday and I'm going to turn up for that.

You could finish the weekend in style by going to the coliseum in whitby to see Jez Lowe in concert, more details to follow when I get to the orifice

Hi Roger
You could always drive 43 miles east to Kirkby Fleetham to support the first night of the new Folk Club!

I'll be in Cropton for three nights having booked a cottage there for Sat/Sun/Mon nights. My bothers are joining me there and we'll be doing some walking as well as drinking and singing.

I won't get across to Whitby or Kirby Fleetham

That'll be good Mick - I don't know anything about the setup of the Sunday session but it is advertised. We'll make a go of it if no-one else does!

Rog: (Or anyone else with info)

Thanks for the info about the "pick up and drop off" service from Pickering on Friday, Sat and Sun nights. Do you know where the location is for this? Is there a schedule to be found anywhere?

I have looked at the Cropton Webiste, but it is sorley lacking any good information.

Any help would be appreciated!
We are coming from the US for this festival and wondered how we could drink and NOT have to drive back to our hotel in Pickering at night.

THANKS so much......

I'm afraid that I don't have any inside information at all - all I know is from public sources. I would suggest ringing the pub itself but that might be a problem from the US. Does the website have an email address? Mind you, the website seems to be about a year out of date so they probably don't read their emails either!

Roger

Hi All

I've just been searching around and found this thread. I don't actually work at the New Inn but I'm involved with all the music up there. I take all the point re: the website - its not up to much so I'm gonna pass the message onto the chaps up at Cropton.

We're organising a music festival for Sat/Sun 10th/11th May, with (I think) a wide range of Beers and Ciders available (a kind of mini-festival) so once I get the website updated I'll let you know whats happening!

Cheers
Mark
