Well, I always like to joke that our (loud) singalong band specializes in captive and deaf audiences (nursing homes, nyuk nyuk!), but now our founding bandmate has us lined to appear at an annual outdoor community picnic hosted by (and at) a funeral home a few towns away. Oh yeah, apparently it's quite the annual thing over there.... in the country people gotta stick together, get entertainment where we can.... and everybody ends up at the FH sooner or later anyway-- most of the people in our line of work are there practically every week....

No fee of course...

At least there are not likely to be too many requests..... or hecklers.... I'm warming up to this already as you can see!

(Hardi says: "We can turn the sound system up as loud as we want!") True.....

Why would you accept or NOT accept this opportunity? Talk me into it, talk me out of it.

(Material.....?)

Uh.....

~Susan

As you probably know, where I live there is a long and still-very-much-alive tradition of intense musical expression at funerals. So this doesn't seem at all weird to me...

You won't have a problem determining "WHO is going to be singing along" ~ even at an actual funeral, there is only one dead person along with plenty of surviving loved ones and other individuals. And this isn't even a funeral, it's a party at a funeral home.

Have fun!

Funeral Homes are designed to work like little theaters. They've got parking, chairs, bathrooms and staff who have experience with traffic flow...sounds like an excellent place to have a Community Gathering.
Plus, they'll feed (and appreciate) you.

I think it sounds neat.
It's smart for a funeral home to host happy events for their community upon occasion.
