Subject: FOLKLORE/SONG SOCIETIES/CLUBS CONTACTS,
From: Fortunato
Date: 11 Nov 07 - 08:48 AM

The Shivers, Susette and Chance, would like to perform their Old Time Country Music (with a bit of comedy) for folk societies around the US and Canada, and of course the UK and beyond. We are recording a new CD and preparing a new promo package for the coming year. We recently performed for the Richmond Folk Music Society, the review is here: http://www.richmondfolkmusic.com/page2.htm

Help us, please, Mudcatters around the world, to reach out and bring our music near to you.
    Please PM.

Thanks, we look forward to meeting you and Mudcatters everywhere.
Chance Shiver

All the best

Barry

One of the best way to meet music contacts is thru the Folk Alliance.
I just attended their west coast regional conference...and there is one in the East (NERFA) soon, and the national in Memphis, TN in feb.

see. www.folkalliance.org

Meanwhile if you will send me a sample c.d. I can put you on
my radio show and i always post a list of the songs i include
and my playlist also will include your web page for the folk
d.j.'s on the list to see.

p.m. me for contact details...

If you're coming to the UK please let me know. We have Dave Bing, West Virginia Fiddler featured at our folk club this Thursday 15th November and we have a virtual sell out already.

This could be a worthwhile thread for a number of purposes, Chance. I'd love to hear the two of you in a full concert. My favorite venue in the Sacramento area is Bill Wagman's home in Davis, California. You can reach Bill through his Website, http://www.wagmanhouseconcerts.org/.
And I'm sure Bill has contacts who can find you a gig or two in the San Francisco area.

Roger, thanks very much, email on the way.

Open Mike I'll get the cd off to you as soon as possible, and I'll PM.

Many thanks for the kind words, Barry

Chance and Susette were great at our concert! They gave lots of background info - made the audience feel they were really there at the dawn of country music.   Friends of mine brought an acquaintance with them from New York City whose idea of a musical evening is listening to Viennese waltzes. I warned them it might not be up his alley, but they brought him anyway. I asked him what he thought of it as he left and he said "I was fascinated! I want to learn more about A P Carter!"

If I was still running a club , I would have NO hesitation in booking Chance and Suzette if they were doing a UK tour !
